More proof rear suspension works!!

In my build threads I have on different forums a lot of people talked crap about the rear suspension being made up of a 2 5/16s trailer ball and a bulldog hitch. After this weekend any worries I had of it not working are out the window.

give us a link to check this out!

Odin , not to start a pissin' match here but No one said it wouldn't "work" they just said there were better, safer, and less complicated ways to do it.

Roberts97dodge , I love your rig man it looks bad ass how do you like your Military tires ?? do they flex well enough??

how is the noise with the hitch style one link?

With the way I have it set up I dont hear it at all. The way most people do it is they have the ball pointing straight down and the hitch goes on from the bottom. I have talked to people that run that and they say it is really loud. I dont ever hear mine banging around.

So far that one ledge is really the only spot I have seen the they just didnt have the traction to get up it. For a FREE tire they work GREAT!!! I am gonna take a saw zall to them pretty soon and cut them up. Also I was running like 3 lbs of air pressure in them and I really should of aired them down some more but I am worried the side walls will end up cracking and the tires will fall apart.

thats cool, I have a set as well but I've never bothered to run them thinking that they were just to heavy and wouldn't flex I'm really interested in your "1 link" what would you say were the downsides??

Thanks for the info, i'm thinking about doing one of these on an old s10 i have lying around with some steering rockwells as well.. i just cant bring my self to be the crap outta my white k5, and with this rig i wouldnt really mind too much.

So far the only downside which for me hasnt been a problem yet is that the crossmember that the ball is mounted to hands down kind of low. But like i said for me that hasnt been a problem yet because my truck is pretty tall and I am on 49's. If I were to do this in some type of buggy I would raise the motor, trans, and t-case so that thway the output on the back of the t-case would be up higher and I could get the crossmembers between the frame rails.

You guys have some nice rigs!

How do the bags hold up on the back of the suburban?

Those bags have been in there like 4 years and he has never popped one. They are not the most ideal set up for this but it has the cool factor and he does pretty good with them. Originally that suburban was sitting about 6"s higher and was a mud truck. It has gone through a BIG transformation into just a rock crawler in the past two years.

Robert97dodge nice pics but if she needs a seatbelt what about you? No cage or belts looks like a bad idea from here:wink1:

Yeah I admit I probably dont wear my seatbelt as often as I should but I am a pretty big guy. It takes a lot to move me especially when I get both hands on that steering wheel.

In my younger days I hit a tree mid-air in a mini truck doing about 60mph and I never let go of the steering wheel. It bent back and forth and my big ass broke the door panel and bent up the steering wheel and I walked away. I also flipped an acura legend in a corn field after loosing it on a corner doing about 120mph and I walked away from that one too. So I admit too that I probably don't wear my seatbelt as often as I should either but I have been very lucky so far. Big guys are built to take a beating I guess.

EDIT: Kick ass truck BTW.
