What's the most bada$$ CB setup you could think of in a rig? I was just looking and found this.

Its large , but technically a waste . You don't get much for your money with that . And when the bands aren't open ( which is normally the fact save for a few days a month right now ) you aren't going to talk long distances anyway

In a few years when the sunspots peak again , your going to be able to talk to the whole world with a 4 watt thrift store radio .

Care to expand on this?

There is a solar cycle . Every 11 years or so sunspots peak on the sun and allow radio propagation on Earth to be really good on the higher frequencies .

In between that time other factors can let the radio propagation be good for a short time .

do a search on radio propagation .

And for daily reports http://www.solarcycle24.com/ . Notice how long we have not had a single sunspot on the sun . Thats why the skip is bad right now , you hear local stations , but nothing over a 3 to 5 hundred miles .

CB'ers typically think they need more power and keep talking all over neighboring channels . Hams just use the lower bands until the upper ones open :D

wow thats crazy, so we acn talk to each other across the country? ck5 should set something up with a time and different channels and we all get in our trucks and bs with each other

I hate those douche bag truckers who have the mega-wattage radios....and they always seem to be the ones who have nothing to add to the conversation, and have the least amount of personality. Hell, have the time I run with the radio turned down unless I need a traffic report.

Naw , I'm not a genius , just gotten a little more serious about learning electronics and radio theory the last couple years .

Search the internet , all the info is free , and very interesting ....... you can even make an antenna from two toy "Slinky's" :pimp:

no to hijack or nothin, but would a cheapy from walmart do alright? I don't need anything special, just would like to get something to use on the trials.

Any legally sold CB would be fine on trails , although due to robustness and less chance of yanking the cord out , stick to your Cobras , Unidens , etc .

At close range like that we all are a little bit distorted by overloading the receiver in each others rigs , so it doesn't really matter which one you do choose .

Just make sure the mic cord threads in and has built in strain relief .

In AZ the fullsize guys and their friends use channel 10 , and the rest of the state and clubs use 4 mostly ( Jeep dudes ) .

And according to a board I am on for radio , drug runners in the Pacific Northwest use channel 10 too , so it should be interesting when the bands get good in the next couple years

from what I've heard the mexicans do the same thing in order to use CB like long distance calling and it can be a real problem.

That is a good lookin radio. I like a few extra bells and whistles but to keep it simple. I got a tuned Uniden PC68LTW I'm happy with.

Technically running more than 4 watts output and/or working "Skip" is Illegal in the U.S. on CB frequencies. However.........
The real problem are the guys who mod the radios and run them in the Ham 10 Meter CW band (28MHz). The South of the Border guys really screw up the legal 10M operations
