Most overuse of spray painting a truck

According to the seller...

Dear neworder18,

Hi;

I can't understand your question on the rear leaf spring, so if you don't mind, please send that again and I will get you an aswer.

On how many gallons of paint for the truck, I guess that depends on what exactly you mean. Assumming that you are serious, for the body we used about a gallon of a 2-part Urethane Filler/Primer. Then we used a gallon and a half of a 3-part flat Urethane in Olive Drab (2 coats) plus a sealer (after a half-quart of adhesion promoter, and with a pint of flow enhancer and a pint of fisheye reducer).

On the undercarriage, it gets about a half gallon of ChassisCoat Black (which is a permanent black coating developed specifically for frame and undercarriage applications) and that goes over about 1/2 gallon (2 coats) of primer.

The bed gets two coats of a 2-part Bed/Rhino Liner - about 2 gallons, with the rest going to interior.

The interior gets a coat of flat black oil-based paint (low-voc and about a pint) and the engine gets a careful coat of both high-temp paint for the exhaust components and Engine Enamel (non-flammable, non-corrosive - about a pint and a half total).

And no, we don't paint the tires. But we do treat them with Mequire's NXT Generation Tech Protectant with engineered synthetic polymers (ESP) to clean, condition and protect all vinyl, rubber and plastic surfaces. It will preserve their original look for a long time, allow them to retain their elasticity, and protect them from fading as well as help prevent premature aging and deterioration. It also provides superior UVA/UVB protection with inhibitors to help reduce fading and cracking.

Bulls h i t.

Take a look at the pics again. The color and paint of the tires and wheels are perfectly identical. Loosely translated, that means they were all spray painted the same color as the whole chassis!

Ray Charles could see that! So could Stevie Wonder!

around 3 gal of total primer and paint on the body :doah: DAM

i did a show quality job on my old truck with a good hvlp gun. under 1 gal epoxy primer. then 1 gal paint got me 3 coats on the whole truck and 2 on the inside of the bed. and 3 on the visor i never mounted up.

That truck is up to $7100 already. Sheesh, I am seriously doing this with my old Blazer!

Did anyone notice the comment about the cargo area being in great shape but the pics of it showing that the floor is about as wavy as a Lays potato chip?

with 2 days remaining...it might hit $9k at the end frenzy bidding
Whoever wins it will be in for a surprise when the paint starts peeling and flaking off everywhere sooner or later.

maybe, just maybe, we'll be lucky enough to get a new ck5 member with a cucv in about 3 days :) haha

then we can help fix and bring new life into it

Thats gonna look like **** after a couple weeks of use.

What a joke.

I do however agree with driving the hell out of the thing, looks like it was pretty decent before though.

I forgot the other thing - only 55k miles. Yeah, right. I HIGHLY doubt it.

Good work, detective!

Too bad eVilbay has the bidders names disguised. Be fun to send that info to all the bidders.

I should add - the tip-off for me was the fact that the edge of the seat was not repaired after they "reupholstered" it. The foam is gone and they didn't even try to fix it. Seeing the "before" pic and now you see why - it's dead.

I wonder what kind of comments this truck would bring over on Steel Soldiers site?
