motivation

The main thing for me is that my k5 is usually my DD (until the old engine threw a rod, requiring an engine swap that has taken months longer than it should have:doah:but it sure sounds pretty now:rolleyes:), and I absolutely love driving it.

Anybody know that look you get when you tell them you've done most of the work yourself? Or that feeling you get when an upgrade or mod you've labored on for weeks works just like it should? That alone makes it worthwhile.

Sure, working on my K5 is frustrating, time consuming, knuckle-busting, and pocketbook flattening...but I wouldn't have it any other way:D.

I have a few things that motivate me. One would be the look on peoples faces when I am driving by. Another is the fact that I have a little bit of money tied up in my rig and if there is something wrong with it then the rest of the money seems like it has been wasted. I have several things I want to do but money is the limiting factor right now. I am going to have to pay 5 digits in taxes this year and I'm not sure I've got enough to keep uncle sam happy! But if I end up having any money in April then I am going to pull the tcase for a rebuild, get a mohave heater and eliminate my air box, then install a snorkel into the cab through the firewall. Then bumpers and eventualy a winch. Whoo hoo!

I think it took longer for us to move stuff out of the way then it did to actually pull the tranny and t-case !!

that engine hoist through the door made it almost to easy

i know what you mean i blew the front end out of my DD and it just happened to snow about a foot throughout the night so i had to get out replace a u-joint i had been puttin off and was drivin to work topless but i put some full doors back on it but no heater, and then i realize how much fun it is to drive then i get more motivated to do more stuff
