I am about to pull the trigger on a motor from a friend. It came out of his 95 k1500 due to a spun bearing. motor had 157k on the ticker. I know im going to rebuild it cause it was free.99 . The questions i have are;

What should i do to the block/ heads to ensure a long rebuilt life? Please list in order of how it should be done

Since it was EFI and is going into an EFI blazer, what things can i do to get more power out of it while keeping the stock ( for now) computer?

Price is an issue as i dont want to spend 2500.00 on stuff for this motor when i can get another one for less than that.

Thank you ALL for your help!!!

Well if you want it to last you will prolly need it to be machined to get everything cleaned up as in cylinders and crank and such. And get new everything for it. Im no expert though im sure the engine guys will let ya know. :thumb:

Well, you pretty much just said you'll be getting another motor then. To build an engine with more power also cost more money. The more mods you do to the engine you WILL need a chip tune. So now your choice is either spend more money on building the engine you just picked up to produce more power than original OR just buy a crate engine with the factory power for less money than it would cost you to build the engine you have.
