here are the stats on the 1979 and earlier goodyear 350. brand new edelbrock 600 carb elec choke. the PO put in a cam but its not that loupe so I think it is mild. The motor sounds fine in the driveway but if I drive it down the road it backfires and stalls. I have tried 8* 10* 11* It seems like if you give it a lot of gas it hesitates then acts like it wants to take off like a rocket, but when I slow down it wants to stall and run like ****.

Please Help I wanted to make it to the truck pull on Fri..

sounds like a carb issue
could be loading up the engine
or whatever low speed circuits there are might be lean or rich lol
but I really know nothing, only some ATV stuff

how does it run cold? Hot? Mash on the gas at slow speed and high speed...reaction?
If you can throw another carb on there and see, that would be bitchin. If it's still happening, then it's either dizzy problems or cam timing. Dunno

Look at your fuel filter too. A dirty or clogged fuel filter will starve the motor for fuel and give you the symptoms you're describing.

thanks guys. Right now my buddy got it to run, so it stops stalling. this thing rips when you get 1/2 throttle. tomorrow I will remove the Elec fuel pump and put it back to stock, change plugs and filter and see how it goes. thanks for your help
