Has anyone actually seen these on a stick from the factory? My hydro 4spd bellhousing has threaded bosses but I've never seen these on a manual trans. I have a set of rods and motor mount brackets from an auto application, can I use them?

I can't find a pic of them installed but here are the rods. These go between brackets at the motor mounts and threaded bosses at the 5 & 7 o'clock positions on the torque convertor cover.

i know what you're talkin bout now. my brother's 92 chevy has em. not even sure what they do. seem kinda useless :dunno:

I've never seen them installed, but they seem to be removed so often, who knows?

The parts manual lists them for every engine except the 4.3, but doesn't break it down by transmission for the most part. A couple say "for AT use", but I have no idea what the other ones are used on.

Strange, they were on my brothers 85 C10 with a 4.3-700r4 combo...

I got em there just a extra brace between engine and transmission since the tranny is made out of aluminum it needs a little more to absorb that vibration from the engine so it doesnt crack the tranny.

Yeah I know what there for...

Has anyone seen / used these on a 4 spd?

:ears:

I don't feel 100% confident the 10" 205 adapter is that great a piece (even though I'm easy on the truck) if those rods are useable, why not?

I definitely want to give it a try. I'm at a fork in the road with respect to the engine, aftermarket oil pan or OE K30 type. The Canton pan has the typical wide belly with some nice baffling so I'd like to use it but obviously it will interfere with the support rods. If I can find just one person to verify the rods will work I'll go with the K30 pan.

I just don't want to waste the time and gaskets putting it in with the K30 pan 1st only to find they wont work.

I've come across lots of hydro-bell equipped trucks with those mounting holes but have yet to see ONE with the rods attached to them. Not sure if its something people just remove and forget to put back on or just leave them off intentionally. I'd put them back on.

I guess I can mock it up on the motor hoist before I waste a gasket on the pan. It'll be a couple of weeks be I'll post up how it works. :thumb:
