Background, like my previous post, stumble at take off, and a break up at 3800+ Feels like its runnin out of spark and or gas. At idle in gear or not it "surges", and by that i mean that it will jump about 100rpm in idle for just a second. Then fall back down.

I rember reading on here quite a while back, about changing the power wire into the HEI to a 12ga wire adn it eliminate the "jump" at idle.

Does anybody have any real world experience with this?

Its a gm 290hp crate, HEI New p/u coil, MSD 6a box, and a MSD cap and rotor. Stock coil, acr45ts plugs, Taylor spiro pro wires.

Thanks guys, i tried to search but i wasnt exactly sure what to type.:o

Thats what i was thinking...my luck would be that in the midst of something i would f*ck it up and have to ride to work the next day...haha

Not if your careful ,watch real close to what your doing and take your time. And other things like don't try doing it when your tired, mad , distracted ya know common sense things.
Also dont cut the end`s off so short you cant reuse them if you need to hook them back up.

This be my problem right here...haha ill get pissed at somehting thats fighting me. Rather than walking away for a bit i keep tryin get more pissed. and BAM sometings broke. haha

I've never heard of anyone increasing the size of the power wire to the coil. I really doubt it's a problem except in an isolated case (maybe the wire was bad in the first place?) because very few have problems with HEI, other than to be expected component failure.

I mean the single wire that puts power into the dist...on my setup it goes into the msd box now. Unless im retarted and didnt quite understand your post i think were talkin about a different wire...

Im not sure if its that, ive had the problem for a bit. and its getting old haha, i cant rember if it was like this w/o the msd i think ill pull it off today or tomrrow and see what happens.

Can't hurt to remove it and just test if you think it's ignition.

That wire I'm talking about IS the coil wire. Comes off the fusebox (it's ignition switched 12V) and typically goes straight into the "coil" terminal on the cap.

Check all your vacuum hoses, general good once over on the engine, see if anything is bad or out of place. Tends to happen.
