Motor swap survey

What should I do?

most people say thet i dont need a/c living here in alaska but i will have a/c nexty summer.gets way too hot when sitting waiting for people to move on the trails.esp when it gets in the high 70s it is way too hot.i dont know how you guys can wheel down there with no a/c and it be 90+deg.

90? heh... last time I took my truck out, it was 102+ for three straight days...

it did rain the first night we were there though
 
lemme get this straight.......

So I won't have to unhook any AC lines during the motor swap? I can remove my radiator and motor, and drop the new motor in, and put my radiator back on... bolt on the compressor bracket and I'll be good to go??? Is keeping my AC really that simple?

PS: I don't think I will be doing any 134 updating, if I have to go to that kinda trouble/expense, I'll just pull the AC and ride with my windows down ;)
 
like others have said, it could be done... it's just not that easy...

just unbolt the compressor off the motor, move it up outta the way, pull all the lines outta the way (don't bend them) and try and gain yourself as much room as possible.

btw, the heater's a no-brainer to keep in working order... I don't think we've put as much talk into that part as the a/c because of that. as long as you hook the heater hoses back up to the radiator when you're done and make sure your thermostat is good in the swapped-in motor it'll work just like original.
 
you ac is a closed loop system, line gose to the compessor (on the moter) to the coil(in the box on your fire wall) to the condenser (ac rad in front of your rad), and back to the compressor.

the only conection to the moter, is the brackit the compressoer is on. disconect that and your free to pull the moter.

the only conseren is to not damage the lines they are alum, and with break but if your carfull you should not have a problem:waytogo:
 
Dunno how this post came back to life, lol. I'm gonna be gone this weekend. I will get to finish my motor swap next monday or tuesday. I only have about 2 hours of work left to make it run. I gotta put the EGR block off plate on it, put the exhaust manifolds back on, but the ps pump on, put the AC stuff back on, but the fan and radiator mack on, put all the hoses back on, and wire it back up... The AC wasn't any problem to remove from the bracketry and get out of the way. The only problem I see is getting all that complicated bracketry put back like it was, but I'll figure that out.
