So i recently changed the heads on my truck. I got it to start once but it ran like crap. so i went and got the ol timing light and tried to get it to start again but now it turns over but acts like it wants to backfire when it tries to start. Builds oil pressure, has fire and gas...:confused::confused::confused::confused: what do you guys think?

Plug wires in wrong order, or dist. 180 degrees out. If it ran at all, its probably a swapped plug wire. It can't run at all with the distributor 180 degrees out, I don't think.
Oops, try twisting the distributor. It may be loose in the hole. That would explain why it got worse.

ill check it tomorrow night after work. right now its cold as a canadian snow drift (no offense to canadians). and texans dont like the cold. if its a no go ill post the progress/failure lol.

So i got it started and set the timing. it was loose in the hole. but now i have a whole new set of problems.... Water pump blew and blew out a freeze plug. So i have to pull the motor back out. but while its out im gonna put in a new cam and such. any suggestions on a new cam?

this is the one im lookin at: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-K1107/

I've seen it before. Usually happens when someone installs one of those super volume/super cooling aftermarket pumps, and then accidentally installs it backwards.
He is lucky it did not blow the heads clean off...........
In other words, I dunno either.

idk how it happened. but i didnt put a new pump on so it wasnt my fault. all i know is there is a freeze plug gone and a massive coolant leak. i got some work to do over the christmas break.....
