i know get a cargo basket and strap it down. but is there a way to bolt a gas can

and i have my dads old wheel chair ramp i was going to mod into a cargo basket. no need to spend three hundred or more for one when you can make one. plus it has a folding ramp on it

Have you looked at these?

Kind of sounds like what you were looking at with the wheelchair basket conversion. If you didn't plan to carry the can all the time (I wouldn't, spills, UV exposure, theft, blah blah blah) I would think something like this would work to strap a can (+) to, and be relatively easy to remove. I don't have personal experience with these things, just seem like a pretty handy piece, and fairly inexpensive.

was wondering if anyone made something bolt to the bumper for a jerry can

Depends on what type of wheeling you do I guess. I have already drug my bumper a couple times going through some steep washes, I can't imagine a jerry can hanging off the back would have helped me any.

My first long trip is coming up next month im only going 6 hours away. But a full gas can inside the thing is no bueno for me. I dont want a basket for one can. Guess ill have to.

You have a 2" hitch already though, correct? Welder?

Putting little thought into it, what about http://www.harborfreight.com/2-inch-to-1-1-4-quarter-inch-hitch-adapter-65024.html cut off the necked down portion, eitehr weld the gas can mount you linked to the stinger stub, or weld a plate to the stinger stub and bolt the can to it.

I'd advise against using the bumper, unless you just don't care about it. Assuming stock, you'll eventually ruin the chrome, and there is no good location to clamp anything to it. The bolts are carriage, and normally break when removing after decades of being in place. They are also no fun to get to.
