How are you guys, that are at home with no lift mounting you're diy4x A-bomb?

Should I just lift the front of the truck, put jack stand under the frame, remove the front of the leaf springs from the frame and start cutting out the rivets for the old hangers?

Should I put Jack's in 2 different spots? What spots? Lol I'm just a kid (well..kinda, I'm 25) working out of my dads drive way .

What's the best way to cut out the rivets? Angle grinder to the head and punch them out?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Air chisel, if you don't have a plasma cutter, for the rivets.

As for the lifting and stands, :dunno: havent personally done that one

When I need to take the springs loose I put stands under the frame right behind the front spring rear hangers. Unbolt either the center or ends of the sway bar if you still have one. Put the jack under the axle and take the tires off, carefully lower the axle a little at a time. I usually take the nuts off of the front spring bolts then using a wrench / socket turn the bolt each time you lower the axle a little, you'll feel the bolt free up when you get to a "neutral" point in axle droop. At this point you should be able to easily remove the front spring eye bolts and then carefully lower the jack some more letting the front spring eyes (only) drop out of the hanger bracket. Note: leave the driveshaft, u-bolts and rear spring bolts alone as they will help stabilize the axle and keep it in position. Now, go to work on the rivots!

Fyi, you'll have to unbolt the body mount under the core support also so you'll likely need to remove the grille to access the bolt heads.

This works best for me, it is probably easiest to get to some of the rivots from the inside of the frame.

That's some detailed info. Thanks!

No sway bar.
No front driveshaft (yet).
No grill (have one but not installed).
This should be a fun project. I have two 3 day weekends...soo I guess I know what I'll be doing.

I’m on the same harbor freight air chisel that took apart my whole C10 frame, front and rear of the blazer hangers, and other odds/ends jobs. They don’t make short work of anything but get it done. If I knew what I was getting into, I would have laid down the serious cash for a good air chisel.

Cut an X in the rivet heads, makes chiseling easier with wimpy chisels.

I dont totally remember but I think I bumped it with the k30 to keep it from rolling back.
Make sure you do it in the dark so you lose your tools easier.
I will make sure I put something behind the tires so it wont roll. I usually start these kinda things right before it gets dark, that shouldn't be a problem. Usually the next morning I realize how many cuts I got in my hands as well.
