Mounting Guages

Has anyone acually mounted aftermarket guages in the factory guage spots? I'm interested in (for now) just putting a tranny temp guage in the spot where a clock could be in my 87 Jimmy. So if anyone has done it, how hard, what did it take to put the guage in and what size guage will fit? Any other tidbits on getting it in a looking good will be apreciated! Thanks :-)
