Well I am looking to figure out where to mount stuff in my k5 and have it look good but be accesable. first is a fire extingisher, second a "Mag-lite", CB(maybe on the center consule).

not sure yet but if i build some bumpers a high-lift.

my truck

thats a nice clean looking K5! I have my cb mounted on the front of the center consel. but now that i installed the twin stick it hits some im gona have to relocate. i have custom bumpers with a swingaway tire carrier and there is room back there to mount a gas can jack and some other odds and ends.

Thanks. its gonna be a mild offroad truck, so. i wanna keep the body nice thats why i say mild offroad. probaly fab up some rocksliders, to keep the rocker streight.

Just so you know i redid the interior. the old stuff was accualy falling apart. it looked like some one dumped like 6 quarts of oil on it. lol

why not build a over head consol for the cb as for the mag lite and fire extingisher 2 things your going to want quikc easy acess to it and mounted good dont want any loose projectiles flying around if you have a roll over and a accident.

sry this is the only pic i could find of a over head console on google and yes i know its a toy

I would mount the fire extinguisher to the side of the seat. you will have to figure out some brackets but thats half the fun.

they sell clips for mag lights that mount with one bolt and allow you to just pop the flashlight in and out. mount the light under the driver seat.

I have seen a CB that only the mike is visible. all the controls are on it. either mount that in the dash and hang the mike from it, or in the console, or under the seat and hang the mike from the console.

I have a fire extinguisher mounted on the front part of the center console, down by the floor.

I have my CB mounted on the side of the console. between drivers seat and console. easy to reach and sorta hidden.

Could mount a maglight anywhere really. I was going to actually move the fire ext. to the back of the center console and put and inverter where it is now. It would be able to be hardmounted or plugged into cig. lighter when needed.

I have rear tirecarrier/gas can carrier with my highlift mounted on it. It is tucked up and doesnt really get muddy. Jus every so often spray it with wd40 or silicone to keep it rust free and the parts moveable.

YOu can see in this pic the fire ext. and the CB.

I found a roll bar for sale, that should fit 78-91 blazers. that would give me a place to mount everything.

Or i could mount the mag-light behind the center consul, and the cb to the center consel, and the fire extingisher under that.

I had my C.B. mounted to the front of my center console, along with a scanner. That worked out pretty well. On my 88 I have a mag light mounted to the side of the center console. It is horizontal, right about level with the seat.

my cb is mounted vertically on the front of the center console w/ the mic clip between the seat and console. extinguisher came with a bracket and is mounted on the side wall behind the drivers door and the seatbelt spool, where the cab corner starts to go up to the bed. very convenient and out of the way getting in/ out. on the front of the rear wheel well outside the back seat arm rest would also be good

I have had to use my extinguisher on at least 2 occasions and every second counts. if its not your truck thats burning and you are out of it, then getting back in and reaching into the back seat takes time. of course if you wheel with the top off its different. But I want mine mounted so that anyone can grab it without having to get into the truck. even on the front of the center console can be hard to reach if you are parked on uneven terrain.

I agree, make it readily available along with a good first aid kit. seconds count in an emergency.

Mag light and fire extinquisher can fit on both sides of the floor next to your shifter .

For rear storage , a Toyota truck bed toolbox , the between the rails type that sits flush so you can run a tonn. cover , will FIT between the spare tire and drivers side wall of your k5 . I have one , a speaker box , AND a 35 inch spare , while being able to open the lid :thumb:

I know its probably nothing you want to do but look at this.

The CB Uses one of the existing mount screws in the bottom of the dash and if I ever to remove it, I t wouldn't even look like it was there. With the MAG light, mine is a 6 cell and I got MAG's mounts and just sheet metal screwed them to the door.

Would you be able to post up a pic or 2

I've got my CB mounted in the factory stereo location, and put the stereo in the dash where the vent used to be.

As for the fire extinguisher, I'd say the tranny hump seems like the most accessible spot.

I used to just drop my Mag-Lite between my drivers seat and the center console, made for easy access.

As for the Hi-Lift, I'm still trying to find an interior mounting spot for that to keep it out of the weather.

My Mag-Lite sits in that spot all the time. My fire ext. is sitting in about the same spot as 78's is, but it isn't mounted. I haven't figured out where I am going to put it, and I want to get two new 5lb units.
CB is going into the ashtray this weekend, then I am going to fill the remaining space with three outlets and a switch for future use.:wink1:
