i need some ideas of how to run my 56's up front. I dont just want to use the old mounts and move them forward so i bought some spring perches from DIY4X but I don’t know how I should mount them. This is what i was thinking. so your looking at the front of the truck: black is the frame, grey is 1/2 plate and the red is the spring perches and gussets. so the plate would bolt onto the bottom of the frame and the gussets would be welded to the outside of the frame. then the perches would be bolted and welded to the 1/2 plate. what do yall think? anyhow have better ideas?

Plate bends easily, I would use rectangular tubing between the framerails instead.
(If you really need to tie them together, I'm not familiar with those spring mounts though)

good idea on the tubing. here are the mounts. how does everyone else mount them?

Mounted mine like this.
Cupped the square tube to the frame and gusseted, and cupped the spring perches to the square tube and gusseted

What if you welded them to the bottom of 2x4 tubing and then used a smaller piece to go between them or notched the tubing and welded the perches to the ends like above. Seems like a good strong way all welded to the frame.

Although the cheapest route would be the way you didnt want to do, use the origional pieces and move em up. Just have to buy bolts....lol

not quite sure i fully grasp what you mean. i have an extra pair of stock pearches so i might extend the frame and use that

A guy on Nor Cal Offroad built these. Lowers the front eye down an inch or two. I don't remember.

I just swapped stock brackets :wink1:

well i would like to use the hangers i bought but i will use the idea in the pic with the hangers. that will work just fine. Thanks

Again, like the very first reply stated, the thickness of plate isn't worth much if you leave it as plate. Look at anything the OEM's make, nothing is ever made of any flat material: sheetmetal, spring plates, brackets, crossmembers, basically nothing.

Don't put 100# of metal on the front of the truck for no reason, use the body mounts that are there and gussets to make everything strong.

And IMO there is absolutely nothing wrong with using the stock mounts.

i was saying i was going to do what he did in the pic, not my idea of the plate. I bought the gussets from kert.

a few from pirate, on an older burb.... Remember these are all in the process of being done so their not the final design.
