My shackles are 6" eye to eye. Worked out perfect for my application. As far as the lift changing, it was maybe a 1/4" taller with the change. You have to consider that as the shackle angle leans further forward, the effective lift height drops. With the 7" shackles that I made at first, the u-joint angle at the pinion was horrible and the steering was noticeably worse. You wouldn't think that 1' makes that kind of difference but it does. In fact, I finally got my shackle angle in the rear of my truck perfect today. After testing it I found that by moving my hanger forward 3/4" I gained at least 4" of compression and 6" of droop. The spring wasn't able to flatten completely on the compression side which greatly limited my droop on the opposite side. Before building this truck I had no clue how important shackle location/length was to having a nice riding and flexy suspension.
