Ok so I've read quite a bit on the 56 inch spring swap but couldn't find what I was looking for. I want to move the front axle forward 3 to 4 inches. Can this be done using the 56 inch springs? If so can it be done using a diy4x a bomb kit. Also I saw a mix thought about steering. What can be done with the 56 what can't and what is best option other than full hydro. This will be for my Burb project if it matters.

I'm not sure about the 56" swap but the b52 from Kert with 52" springs moves it 2".If you use Dodge rear 52s it will give you another 2" forward. I'm doing this swap in the next few weeks.
From what I understand you can still use crossover steering you just may lose a little turning radius. I guess I'll find out what works the hard way.:doah:

A 56 swap will move your axle 4 inches unless you find leaf's that are centered. Mine happened to be, not by choice but by chance. Crossover steering works just fine.

What about hi steer with the 56s. And would mounting the spring with a b 52 or a bomb still get the 4 inches?

You ned to use a "A" bomb or the B52's or swap sides on the stock mounts in order to do the 56's swaps.

Not sure about high steer because I didn't do it but can't imagine why it shouldn't work

I swapped sides with the original front hangers and went with 52s... It moved the front forward a couple inches... I went full hydro, so no help on the steering part...

I still got into part of the firewall with 38.5...

You could always bump stop it before it gets into the firewall...

That's what I'm gonna have to do...

DIY a bomb, 2" lift 52s, forward-most hole, 7.25 shackle, 1.5" forward zero rate with regular old crossover.

Man I want to go 42 looks like firewall will need to be massaged.
Nope, it clears the firewall.
I've got 42" Iroks and 56" springs, and it works fine, but needs pretty much trimming of the fenders.

Check out my build-thread for more pics (link in my signature).
The 56" springs did relocate the axle 2" forwards when I relocated the stock spring hangers 4" more forwards, like this:

If you use B52's I'm guessing you could move them even further forwards if you like...:dunno:

You will need angle shims to compensate for the pinion angle with 56" springs.
Both because the axle isn't centered on the springs, and because you'll need pretty long shackles to clear the frame.
But be careful not to shim it to much so you'll get negative caster

I think you could run into clearance issues between the drag-link and tie-rod with high-steer if you move the axle 2" forwards.
But it probably depends on what pitman arm and steering arms you're using.
The Superlift 1104 pitman arm is probably a bad choice, because that's a really long one.

56" long 4" Superlift springs. Stock location for the rear hanger.

Things look a little out of proportion because the engine is also moved back 2.5".
