Once upon a time (don't u love stories that start that way?), when we 1st got the /forums/images/graemlins/burb.gif and drove it home (San Antonio to Colorado Springs), i was able to TOUCH 16 MPG. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Can't recall what tires were on it then, but here's what I recall.
91 -350 EFI - 700R4 3:42, 245.75.25 and about 93,000 miles.
Never saw much of that again. normally around 13 . Have also left the high country and now in Wisconsin.
Swapped to 14FF with 4:10s in it, and jumped up to 245.75.16s (and haven't done the speedo-correction yet), but had been getting from 6.7 (towing the hotel) to about 13.5 (just the raw math - no correction for gears/tires). /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Just changed the TSP (2nd time in 14 months), and now that raw number hit 14.9 !!!! /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
Must have something to do with an egg under my foot most days.

10 MPG, used to get 13-15, I've tuned 'er up and done everything I can think of but she still gets 10. Going to reseal the intake and TBI and see what that does.

My old 93 K1500 reg cab shortbox
305, 5-speed, 3.42 gears, 70K miles
Headers, etc.
with 31" tires, 13-14
with 32" tires, 10-12

1989 burb

stock dual exhaust
4.10s
35's

I get 15 mpg around town. which is the same I was getting in my xj cherokee and this rigs twice the weight and less horse power but can tow(reason i got it) almost 3 times the amount

Hmmm with my Edelbrock carb and Unilite
3.73s and 35" BFGs I was getting 15MPG+

Changed it to a TBI, and HEI got 14MPG.

Now I am getting ~12 - 14MPG - Something is not right.

I just changed to some 37" MT/Rs and still have the 3.73s with a SM465. Last I checked I was getting 13MPG.

The best thing you can do is get an adjustable vacuum ignition advance. That is where the hwy cruise Ignition, and MPG are at!

Good luck.

This is my old setup, we'll see what the 5.13s and 42s change.

Here is a good one for ya, my 3 setups in the past few years...

85 Jimmy
stock q-jet
stock 305 (~150HP)
4.56 gears, lockers
700R4
BFG MT 35s
6" of total lift, but roof rack with lights (top of rig around 9 feet high)
MPG = 9 hwy/8 city

next...
stock q-jet
built 350 (~300HP)
same tires, axles, tranny, height et al
MPG = 7 hwy/6 city

finally (and check this out)
built 383 (~450HP)
edelbrock 1406
1-ton 4.56, locked rear
700R4
42" TSLs
8" total lift, but no roof or rack (dropped 8" overall height)
MPG = 12 hwy/10 city!

the wind resistance makes a HUGE difference as I found out by ditching the lights, roof rack, and spare tire from teh top. My last mod raised the step in height 7", but lowered the overall height by 8".

before

dead stock 88 tbi
13-14 mpg city (if you can call Ada, Ok city)
16-16.3 mpg highway.

now with the LT-1(a/c and all)
14.6-15.1 city (depending on how much i romp)
17-19 highway. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

that's going to be nice when i leave for my road trip in a week.......

i have a 83 with a 305
33" MTs
and half city half highway i get 11.7 (thats with lead foot syndrome ) and also i compansated for my odometer being off.

when my dad broght it home with bald 31 ATs it got 22 highway.

350 vortech
4l60 w/ 205
4.56 gears
1 ton axles
36" tires
10-12 city
12-15 highway.

Interesting seeing everyone's mpg.

83 Blazer
38" swampers
4.10 gears
14 ff/Dana 44
T350/NP205
472 Caddy motor bone stock right down to the cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds but a fresh motor
750 cfm Edelbrock carb

MPG...city 16 mpg driving like a maniac
highway 20 only going short trips of 30 miles not brave enough to try longer trips yet.

I am happy with my gas mileage to power ratio. I do get teased about my beast and bad mpg but I still get better then the 98 Silverado 4x we had years ago, 12 mpg city, and any of the other blazers I had with smaller motors.

knowNuthing

I know this is an old thread.

1984 K5, 350 CI, 700R4, NP208, 4.11:1 gears, 650cfm Edelbrock performer, edelbrock EPS manifold, ceramic coated Headman headers, no crossover pipe, true duals to magnaflows, 2" suspension lift running 33 x 12.50 15 Duratracs. Corrected my speedo with a 20% reduction gear set. No AIR.

I get 9-10 city and about 12.5 hwy. My driving is hilly, NC/SC and I am not a gentle driver.

Shawn

I guess I'll add my newer blazer to this as well now. 94 blazer sport 1500. 350tbi 4l60 stock exhaust up to a flowmaster muffler. 3.42 gears.2 inch lift on 32x11.5. Gets 15-17 mpg. I'm very surprised it does so good. If I'm romping on it I can watch the Guage drop but just putsing around trying To save gas it does real well compared to my carbed lifted 72 on 35s.

76 k5
350/350/203 non converted
3.73 gears
35"tires
holley 650 double pumper, dual feed, mechanical secondaries

i was getting 7.28 befor i changed my fuel filter, and i did notice a big difference when i did my bushings and put my front axle back where it belongs, it will now gain speed going down hills so it has to be better!

ill let you all know with in a week or so what the new numbers are when i fill up again. im only on my 5th tank since i have owned it.

now with winter blend, going in this next tank mileage is out the window.
