I know I've seen it somewhere but can't find it! (my wife would say I'm not looking properly!) A chart with tyre size and axle ratios showing what rpm you'd be doing at a certain mph. Anyone know of it? Thanks. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

we don't even use that spelling in deepest darkest Canader

as a noun yes. Cash your cheque.
not as a verb. Check your tires.
Americans spell much worse then we do but we do not follow the English as much as we should.
French influence is deep.

That's your problem. /forums/images/graemlins/histerical.gif

hearing the word 'foyer' mispronounced about a million times on Bob Villa's program makes me think it is your problem as well, not that New Englanders speak that normally at the best of times.

The midwestern, "Accent" is generally considered the most correct in America.

I would pronounce "foyer" just like it sounds, the first half like the word boy, and the second half like the end of the word, "lawyer." Is this wrong?

Just want to add something here Mike. Some of the worst spelling I've seen is on a local site (as you very well know) I got roasted for giving a crap about spelling there...

I don't care if they don't care...but it sure makes them all look like drunken retards.

I have never heard the word prounounced that way.

You guys would love to know how I pronounce, "Marseilles".

yup
it is a french word, there is no R sound

tRusty,
Most of those guys are a bunch of drunken retards.
Have you not looked around at the majority of the population?
99% drooling morons would be an extremely generous estimate.
No idea what you thought your thread on that subject was going to accomplish.
I just try (usually without success) to draw out the few worthwhile local folk on that board like dentedup and U2slow

Apparently I can pass as a Californian if I am careful to stay away from my local coloqualisms (wonder if I nailed that spelling /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

I'm a glutton for punishment...and i was drinking when I posted that. Normally I would not have done that /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif Then when i went to check the thread and possibly delete it the site was down. By the time it came back up it must have been the first thread everyone looked at.

Definitely 99% knuckle draggers there, anyone smart enough to fog a mirror there rarely posts.

so you are copping to being a drunken moron as your defence??

LOL

think of it this way, where there are moron guys there is a good chance at some dumb broads
