Mr. Clean's dune cruising 71' K5 "Oprah" beams, links, and turbo ls powwwa

4.8, tranny, dash and guages, beams, trailing arms, glass, and lowering

Wow this escalated quickly beams huh sweet your halfway there already.

No. This has been the plan all along i have just lept it quiet because i knew it would be a whike before the beams will happen.

Speaking of beamed Chevys, it's been done a lot actually. From what I hear it's much easier because the frame is narrow than putting a arms on the truck. So I can't wait cause that's gonna be sick when it's done.

Thats one of my favorite trucks of all time. I actually know the the guy that build this truck. Daniel Bailey who owns Coastal fab works. I talk with him om fb often. That truck is currently back in his shop to get finished up.

The plan is to have a local buddy of mine who has a shop Build my arms and my dual swing steer setup. He owns Griffen Fab Works and he builds some saweeet stuff.

This is a burb he did last winter they named "the seven seater whoop eater."

And this is his personal truck. a ranger with beams pulling 24"s of travel deavers in the rear doing 20"s of travel and a 5.3 ls and th400

Oh man I never saw pics of the burb finished that's awesome! Yea I follow Chris and cfw on Instagram and pretty much am going to copy Chris's truck, lol when not if I break my dana44 mines going beams as well. There is something about a Chevy prerunner that's awesome. Glad you came out finally so I don't feel so alone on here about that.

So i guess the only thing that would change my mind on the 4.8 is if i got a completely free motor......out of nowhere last night one of my MX buddies who i really only see at the truck gets a hold of me and asks if i had a use for any ls stuff. So i told him yes in the next month-2 months im looking at doing a swap. He then goes well i got a bunch of stuff you can have for free if you want i just want it gone. He brought it over theres complete front accessories, intake, harness, valve covers, valves, springs, pistons amd several other things. So i asked where is the motor? He answered, thats a good question. I think its at a friends shop. I will see if i can track it down and if i find it you can have that too. So we will see what turns up with that. If he cant find it i have several spare parts now on my shelf.

Its funny he has the valves and pistons and not the rest of the stuff. Free parts!

What if it's not a 4.8, are you going to give it back?

I would measure the piston diameter and see what it is, that will tell you if its a 4.8/5.3 or a 6.0, 6.0 bore is 4.000", other two are 3.78" bore. If its not a 6.0 the rod length will then tell you if it's a 4.8 or a 5.3, the 4.8 rod is 6.276, 5.3 rod is 6.098 center to center.

He had told me it was a 5.3. But i will measure the rod lengths tomorrow and verify.

If its a 5.3 i'd use it. Can't beat free. He has to turn up the heads and block yet first.

Idk how many people know this but to this date i am still under $4k into Oprah, thats with purchase price. A first gen, cage, resi shocks, bumps, 11"+ of wheel travel, and an ls all under $5K would just be kind of cool. Its not like i have been trying to be very money concious but these type of deals just keep happening.

If he turns the motor over cool ill put it back togethor and use it. If he doesnt still sticking with my original plan of buying a turn key.

thats amazing Nate, mine wasnt even running and I had more than that into it!
great ideas coming together here!

Just kinda proves the fact that when people sell these rigs it's always cheaper to buy than build. Parts get more expensive every day it seems like.
