i have a mr goodwrench 6.2. was wondering if the mr goodwrench would be the 599 block? i have heard the 599 is a good block and need to learn more about my diesel

Look at the front of the block there is a casting number embossed and it should have the 599 as the last 3 digits.

where is it on the front of the block? 
The only place I've found a casting number is on the rear of the block, passenger side, just aft of the deck around the bellhousing flange.
