Msd install

I am going to install my msd ignition today will post pics later and tell how it runs.
I have had the thing for over a year its time to put it in now that i have all the pieces.

Its sucks when its only 53 deg out. in the shade.i should have left it in the sun but pulled in the driveway to be closer to the tool box

Cool, I just bought one too and haven't decided on installing it yet. Are you carbed or fuel injected?

carbed for another 3 months till i save my pennies

i had some wire loom stuff for motorcycles and i covered thew wires going across the fire wall with it. I like it.
made a mount out of some diamond plate aluminum, i just flipped it over.

I put the low resistance button under the coil. and used the hei coil to power it since its a msd coil anyway.
it started up but i had to adjust the timing. it startes great. runs a hole lot better. when standing behind the thing you wont get a gas high from it. and off the line it has the power it should. run it up to 5500 rpm and when my Blazer shifted its a little scary when the ass end breaks lose on you.

why i waited to install this thing ill never know. it was easy. just a little time consuming

why when its cold does it not like starting after being driven and cooled back down?
vacuum leak?

About the starting issue, how far did you advance the timing?

its 12 base 34 total that what edellbrock recommended when i built the motor

Should i gap it bigger? calls for 35

I have my 86 at .045....(hei)

so ill try that and gap the plugs bigger as soon as there is not 3 inchs of snow on the ground.
and install my new catch can my stock one has a leak and im going to beat it with a bat!!!

Went and gaped them at 45 and no more starting issue
