I called my local supplier today to get a rebuild kit for my MSD distributor. He told me that MSD themselves will complety rebuild the distributor (bearings, shaft, weights, models and coil) for $112, if I send it in to them. This sounded WAY to good to be true. Alone the coil (90) and model (130) add up to more than that. Called MSD, they said to make a note when I mail it and they will replace everything (not just whats broken/worn).
Anyone have experience with the factory rebuilding? I don't want it to get there and have them tell me its going to cost me 75% of a new unit just to rework this one.

Well we used to have a member....Philly87 that would help us out. I know he cut me some pretty good deals but also know he wasn't being paid what he was worth. I haven't heard from him and don't know if he still visits CK5 or not. From what I have known it is not uncommon for them to have good customer service.

Seems to me at one point I needed one serviced. I did in fact buy a new one as there was a points race that weekend, but they turned it around pretty quick. I also don't remember sticker shock from the repair, so must have been ok

+1

Phil helped me warranty an older MSD Offroad box, and even helped be to convert my MSD Pro-Billet dizzy to a "locked out" version....

Unfortunately, I have no use for the dizzy now.... but hey, it's brand-new in the box and I'm sure I'll sell it for 50% off retail like I always seem to do when I sell anything..... :D

Thanks guys.:waytogo:

Hopefully @Philly87 will see this.
I really hope I can get that dizzy back in the truck, It liked the MSD..... till it quit:haha:

Philly87 helped me out a time or to as well. Good guy right there.

Update: Contacted Philly87, He took my info, gave me a RMA# and a shipping address..... My life shifted gears and I drove around with 2 distributors in my truck(one in a box, one under the hood) for several months.
FF to the end of Feb. I FINALLY sent off the package in question..... It's back!!!! :woot::woot: Like a kid at Christmas. This thing is so purdy.
I gotta say, the entire process was quick and painless. Not counting my own derailment.
Thank You @Philly87 for all your help.

Unfortunately for us, Philly left MSD back in December.

It was nice having a CK5 guy "on the inside" while it lasted. :doah:
