MSN: Suburbans through the years

I like the '39 Suburban's body style, very cool--but the '66 4x4 K10 suburban was my favorite body style, the panel version was the ultimate IMO..

Compared to those body styles,my '85 looks rather bland..

Wish i could share the "Legend of the Suburban" brochure my parents got in teh 90's.

Ill see if I can dig it up.

Great old stories, photos, of ppl with their burbs.

A whopping 60 hp...those were the days :thumb:

Hey, if gas keeps going up and up and someone talks cars and asks you how many horses you have, you can point to the parking lot and say, "just the brown one eating hay". :haha:

Then we can all say, "remember when we had cars?...those were the days" :D

Drive a 3 ton '82 GMC with a 6.2/TH400 and 3.23's and you'll think you have 60 hp too!....especially when you hit a steep hill!..

It's not THAAAAAAAAAT bad...add O/D and 3.08 gears, and you'll be where I am. And I still like it here. I'm not generally holding up traffic... :thumb:

Yeah love those panel van 'burbs. Newstand where I grew up had 4 black ones, I always wanted to buy one when they parked them.

i never really cared about my suburban being slow when i had a tbi350, 3.73 gears and 36s. but now with my 5.3l and 4.10 gears, i wouldnt go back to less power for anything! i never knew what i was missing!

I use my truck for daily driving. As such, I don't often run out of power, but I do care a great deal about mileage. I have driven more powerful trucks, but not any that beat my mileage. So I stick with the slow truck. As fun as a newer 5.3 may be... :)

On that note, I had small tires on the suburban (6.2L with 3.73 gears and a non-locking torque converter) recently, and the power difference is astonishing. It pulls *much* nicer than Big Blue does with the same size rubber. All for a little gearing difference...
