Still haven't done much to it... Summer has been real busy...
We took it to a friends house this last weekend to welcome a family friend back from Iraq... Had a great time and stayed the night in the bus... I had it up to 68 mph on flat ground... Also took it to the store to get groceries... It gets more rubber necking than anything I've ever driven...
On Monday I was taking it down to run it through emissions and it went to crap right in front of the bay as I was pulling in... Leadfoot067 came to save my ass and pull it out of the emissions lot... Ended up draining the tank and fuel filter... The fuel looked a bit funky and didn't smell right... Put some fresh stuff in and primed the fuel system and it runs great...
Did find out on Mountain HWY that it runs out of diesel at 1/4 tank on the gauge... Better to find that out close to home than 100 miles away... It needs about 8 gallons in the tank to get the pick-up wet...
Got some work done on the dinette and galley today...
There will be a 1" thick piece of plywood on the bench and the rest will get treated with aluminum diamond plate...
Here's the start of the galley... The stove will slide into the open square spot... Still needs a few pieces added on, but you get the idea... Gonna get painted black and aluminum diamond plate for cabinet doors... Then it'll get a slate counter top...
Got the other seat for the dinette done... Need to do some grinding, weld some nuts on the inside of the square tube to fasten the diamond plate and paint...
Also got the toe kick installed on the galley and started cutting materials for the hearth under the wood stove, but ran out of welding gas...
Gonna start cutting and mocking up the bunk material...
The aluminum tool box is there for mock up of the fridge... It'll be cut up for use as cabinet doors...
Got the stove mounts welded to the galley... Had to work under the awning because of the rain... The fridge is mocked up... Now I'm gonna work on the upper cabinets...
Got the rough in done on the upper cabinets... There's another one above the large window on the passenger side as well...
Started the rough framing for the head... I'll try and get some better pics...
Still have a lot of framing to do, but the main structures are coming along nicely... Gonna be a lot of little things that don't show a whole lot of progress happening real soon...
Cool rig dirty, stayed up till 2 am reading the tread. Wife was pissed till I showed her the manship. Curious to know if you calculated the weight removed compared to weight added including full tanks and will it affect HP or mileage for towing.
I took out over 1000 lbs before starting... The wheel chair lift alone weighed 450 lbs... I can carry the galley in and out without a problem, it's pretty light...
Here's some better lighted pics...
Pulled the galley out to add a little more...
Then added some diamond plate above the cabinet doors...
The guys at Ace hooked me up with the rack in front of the sink... This is what they use on their shelving to keep the product from falling off... gonna cut up some diamond plate to weld behind it, then I think it's ready to get cleaned up for paint...
