Mud Bog need help

Im planning on entering some mud bogs this summer and need some help.
I want to stay in the stock class so I'm going to run 33. I'm planing on running 33/13.5/15 LTB. What I need help on is do I run in hi or low range. I have a 350tbi/7004/208/4.10? If I ran in high I would put in in second gear right and if in low then I would run in drive.
 
Wheelspeed is your friend, yes...but I have run into mud where my 305 was barely able to spin the 33's in low range... so definately depends on the consistency.
 
I have been in sandy mud that was 4' deep but thick, where my 305 would only turn 4000 RPM in low range first gear in the 700R4. The truck has 3.08 gears and 35" Boggers so that doesn't help at all.
It all depends on the mud.

imo i would try high if it was a mud drag with like 10 inches of mud but you said bog so im guess its as far as you can go type of deal so i would do the low range and put it in drive, i doubt if it will shift out of second anyways unless the start is very soupy and shallow, put it to the floor and let it eat and if you do hit drive(doubt it) it will probly go right back to second, dont think high range would be the way to, i have never seen even the skimmers that run t cases instead of chain drives opt for high range unless its a manual, automatics and high range is usless for going fast unless u have 6.72s and 33s lol

Thats what I was kind of thinking. Unless I had a built motor that would really spin the tires then I would have to run in low. thanks
 
Oh wut tire pressure should I run. Would it be better to run normal tire pressure for more floatation or to have about 10psi in it for more traction

Lower pressure gives more floatation.
 
how does that work. is it becase the tire flatens out more and has a wider print so it will want to stay on top more?

Basically!
We all air down up here when we drive in boggs (tundra, peat, etc.) and it also works great in sand and snow.
 
i ran mud bog for 2 years here in va...heres what ic an tell ya...if you dont have the a huge motor you want all the gear you can get...i ran 513s and a 208 (2.8 to 1 i think)it still was not enogh gear....you want all the gear you can get so you can pull high gear (like second and 3rd)in your truck...as far a pressure goes i never really meesed with that...my sucuess in mud bog never came with wide tires...i ran a 38x11 bogger which is now only allowed to be run in xx clas with tractor tires at the place i ran...thats why i got out couldnt compete...tall and skinny dig in mud...fat wide tires float...but i will attest to this...tall and skinny if you hook up in the mud is sure to break a 44...i never did but seen it happed many times...just my .02
 
Depends on the mud. If it has no bottom or your tires can't get to the bottom low pressure. If your tires can get to the bottom high pressure so they will sink to the bottom faster
 
with 33" tires I hope he isn't going to reach the bottom. If he does it won't be much of a mud bog.
 
yeah run about 15 to 20 psi low side in drive, let it eat, those ltbs are bias if i am correct so runin 15 psi is like runin 50 psi in a radial, its not gonna float its gonna go to the bottom anyways if it can reach
