Started out as a good day but went sour fast.... my 1st pass a lock out hub broke and no one had parts. So i went to a local auto part store and bought warn premiums. I fixed that and sunk it in again, made 3 more good passes and it jammed in 1st gear and wouldnt come out....that ended the day... these are when the right hub broke...

yea it was lots of fun, the breakage sux but its expected i guess. ill get it up and running again this week.

That was the origional stock hub that i broke, im thinking the warn premiums should hold up much better. The stock ones lasted a few years.....

The stock Spicer hubs are actually a lot stronger than the Warns. The Warn hubs do have a liftetime warranty though

The stock ones were 25 years old tho..lol. I bought the warns but might take em back and get spicer 35 spline outers and 35 spline warns but then i seen pics of new 30 spline outers and the axles measure the same except for the spline count....any imput on those, would it matter..?..if not ill keep the 30 spline warns and just get the 30 spline axles..

any more bogs this year at that place? is it just for fun or competiton? i only have one more comp bog this year at our normal place this year.

I know the stock ones are old, Spicer stopped making D60 hubs a long, long time ago. They are much stronger than Warn hubs.

The Warn lockouts aren't really all that stout, ask me how I know (the lockout is stuck on the shaft because its broken too)

The Warn 35 spline lockouts really aren't any stronger than the 30 spline ones. The 35 spline outers, however, are ~75% stronger than the 30 spline shafts they replace. 35 spline lockouts (selectable hubs, whatever you want to call them) generally aren't too stout, hence why so many of us run drive flanges.

No more here and its for fun, 10 bucks a day. There was about 50 trucks this year form beaters to rockwells and 52s.... They have it once a year, was twice a year but lately once.....

Sorry for this hijack:crazy:
what would you recommend for 35 spline shafts?? I can't run flanges because I need to unlock when I hit the road

ok maybe ill upgrade to 35 spline outers and 35 spline warn hubs and get the slugs for the mud boggs, are the inner axles durable..? Thats my problem i drive it there and home so it would suck to keep changing em....ill figure something out.......

i broke a d60 30 spline stub and a lock out hub this year mud boggin. the hub only broke from the force of the broken stub trying to shoot out.

ill upgrade after i get the new centerforce clutch in... ill have to get the 35 spline stubs , it was ok with 37s but the 39s make it so much easier to brake em....

Why do you feel you can't run drive flanges on the street? I have a detroit in the front of mine and have had run it on the street a bunch, I've never noticed it.

Teraflex and Dynatrac sell 35 spline hubs that are supposedly good but they are super pricey. The best lockout option, IMO, is to find a set of Spicer lockouts and have them broached to fit 35 spline shafts (if you search under the username mrk5 you should find a post where he did just that, fairly inexpensive too).

The one and only reason I Want to unlock them is the drive back to camp. This summer I blew a front U-joint going back to camp on the road. if It was on the trail it would have been fine, I would pop a new one in and be gone on my way. but my driveshaft did a pole vault under my truck and broke my driveshaft, bent my crossmember, broke my tranny/tcase mount and now my tcase leaks out of the output shaft badly.

You can quickly and easily remove the "puck" piece of some drive flanges and still reinstall the cover.
