Alright guys, I know this has been done 18048432.017 times.

But seriously...Who doesn't love mufflers?!

I have dual 2.5" straight pipes from previous owner...need muffler suggestions.

Have glasspacks w/ dual 2.5" on my K5...sounds good until you hit high rpms and it starts sounding like crap...All glasspacked V8's I've heard sound crap @ high rpms.

So I'm looking for something loud and aggressive...Something really MEAN.

Flowmaster original 40's are pretty cheap...How do they sound?

motor is a 1970 350 btw..It's got some grunt. I just need mufflers for inspection.

I think their 40 series Flowmasters on my car, and they are MEAN! It's a well built 289 ford, dual 2.5", dumps down in front of the real axle. Sets off car alarms all the time and has people thinking it's a 390.:D On the 350 in a k5, they also sound great. My friend has duals and 2.5"'s I think, and it sounds really good when he mashes the pedal out wheeling. His might be the 50 series, but I doubt it. My vote goes to the flow's, but my experience is limited...

If you want loud and aggresive try the dynomax race mufflers they are loud and sound cool as hell at the upper rpm range. Not really much for muffling sound though. As a second the flowmasters have always sounded good to me too. Also Ravens? which is a Midas brand muffler sound good too. The Hooker superflows I like also.

Borla Sportsman! They growl but not excessively loud. And they last for ever! Mine's been on there 10 years now and is still solid. Gotta love stainless steel mufflers!

with a big, quite, modern, stock muffler (you can probably get an exhaust shop to GIVE you one they've taken off, or maybe a buddy to give you one), you will be able to hear the secondaries on your carb opening, the scream of your mud tires, mud hitting your fenders, and parts breaking or starting to go. Also, you won't be making alot of noise on trails. I would go with stock mufflers, then maybe some of those exhaust cut outs with the little wing nuts.. I'm gonna get around to ordering some eventually.

ive a super 40 on mine, 3" single no cat, despite my exhuast leaks it sounds real throaty

Spintech have the "Drive-in" sound w/o being super loud when you're on it. Nothing like a loud exhaust to draw the LEO's.

I found my flowmasters at the junkyard for $25 for the pair! they were caked in mud and a little rusted but the cases were still good. They are a nice heavy duty muffler. they sound good too. I'm more of a glass pack man myself, but for $25 dollars :eek1: I couldn't pass them up.
Edit: plus I ran the flows because they seem like they could take quite a few rock hits and keep going. I bet my exhaust will get ripped off before those muffler cases are damaged.

40 series Flowmaster. Nothing sound better at high RPM. IMO
Lots of resonance at part throttle right off of idle. If you don't like that get the 50 series, but they don't sound as loud to me.

the super 40's are a little deeper than the original 40s. i dont think u can go wrong with either

I had an old pair of 40's I sold to some kid for 40 bucks.. I kick myself I everytime I think about that.. should have held on to them

james, jus get a pair of super 40's :) i love mine. they sound sweet w/o a cat!

i had flow 40s and thought i liked them, until i got 12" case 2.5 in/out dynomax race bullets... these things are awsome

edit: you dont have any cats so they would prolly pop a good bit

Sweet looking truck...What's the skinny on your exhaust system?

Super 40's have always had my interest since I first saw that commercial with the black Nova...that is one sweet sound.

the flowmaster website has sound clips on it. keep in mind, the more baffles inside, the quieter its gonna be. the original 40 series are the loudest, and have the most "flowmaster sound", they are my favorite.

I know they cost more but you will love Spintechs. If you want loud go with the pro shoot out if you want a little quieter but still good sound when your in the gas go with the next one down I believe it is the sportsman or pro street
