Flowmaster is NOT the way to go if you desire a quiet ride in the cab:doah: Sounds beautiful, but my 50 series on my Yukon is much to loud for a highway ride. So, I'm getting rid of it. Question is, what to replace it with? What do you have on your DD, and how do you like it? I want one that has little to no resonation inside, but still makes a nice V8 sound. I love the sound of Corsa, but then they are very expensive and only come in kits, and are not available for my old body style Yukon.

So, what is out there?:ears:

........I got dual super 44's with dual 3" pipe, turned out in front of the tires w/ some 4x24" tips.......you dont know loud.....:wink1:

Flowmaster 70's with full tail pipes are just fine on my BBC.

I've always been a flowmaster person. The 50 can be loud on a short wheel base (not a burb, haha), was loud on my blazer. The correct Flowmaster solution to this is the 70 series. Had one on our 96 burb, basically stock quiet. Little better tone when you get in it.

Should have done 40 or 44's on my burb instead of 50 series. But the 50's got the neighbors "involved" already......so maybe 40's would be a bad idea. :haha:

3" magnaflows (or flowmasters if you prefer) should be just fine IF your exits go all the way to the rear bumper. That is a about as it good as it gets for a best of both worlds type set up.

I have on my 03 2500hd.. edelbrock shorty headers, dual flowmaster 2.5 inch 50 series that go all the way back and 45 at the bumper that sound nice and at highway speeds dont get loud unless your above 4,000.

On my stepside i have headman longtubes with 1/5/8 flowtubes, 3inch collectors, 3inch pipe to 3inch super 44s, 3inch tailpipes that 35 behind the bumper....Thats pretty loud above 2,000....lol

I have factory stock 2" (or whatever stock is) dual pipes from the manifold on back, into a 50 series Flowmaster dual in-out with dual 2.5" pipes over the axle bent to 70* to exit out the side into 3" tips. Like I said, great sounding setup, but the resonation really annoying on the highway.

Magnaflows have a similar sound, but I've heard they have resonation on the highway too. I think the 70 series would be a good solution, but I was hoping to keep some good rumble as well. In my old Jimmy, Flo Pro's with true duals is loud at any speed.:D Don't care in that.

I've got dual 40 series on my 72 with a 383...doesn't seem that loud to me...they exit just before the rear bumper. However, I do have a soft top and have ridden V-twins for years with "mufflers" on them so what you consider loud is probably something that I can barely hear :)

They're not necessarily loud per se, but the drone that emanates from them between 1,500-2,000 rpm is what's driving me nuts, sometimes it's hard to hear over dddrruuuuuuuummmmmm!!!!!:doah:

I had some Magnaflow Ultra Flow on my old '77 K5, fairly stock motor w/headers and full 2.5" dual exhaust. They were fairly quiet, little to no resonance inside and a decent sound under throttle.
My current K5 has Force (Flowmaster style) mufflers with no tailpipes and turndowns, probably a little loud for what you're looking for.
I've installed some systems on customers vehicles using the Hooker Aero Chamber muffler and they are a decent muffler. They have some resonance but not as much as a Flowmaster.
The Hushpower's are a much quieter style, almost like a mellow glasspack.

the cheapest summit brand turbo muffler I can find. I usually end up changing stuff. I have had flowmasters and they are cool but I put them on to gain power, they may have but certainly couldn't tell

so I stick with cheapish turbos

70 series flowmaster is way quieter

got rid of my flow masters on my 2500 for Meineke performance muffler, not much drone and a good rummble over 2500 rpms. Bonus i think it was like 135 installed. now just to get the flow masters of the jimmy or louder speakers on of the two
