im runnin a flowmaster 50 series rgth now. im gonna put a set of hooker comp headers and an x-pipe over christmas break on. WHat mufflers should i run? id love to run super 40s but i dont realy have that kind of money. I was thinkin about teh purple hornies bc theyre cheap and loud. (thats the goal here:haha: )

any feedback? and should i real put an X or H pipe in, i know it will help with exhaust scavenging and give the fighting exhaust sounds. but will it hurt performance wise?

If I were you I would just buy one more FM 50 series... or are you changing size of tubing.... If you want to go cheap just buy a pair of glasspacks.... I want to put the Flowmaster 50's on my 74... Why do you want to change?

hte flowmaster i have is a dual inlet, single outlet. i would like to run duals this time. instead of it dumping in front of my tire which now has put carbon on the quater panel  dont ask i got it for xmas last year.

MAGNAFLOW!!! flowmasters sound ok but dont flow worth a **** compared to magnaflows...

i really like my dynomax ultraflow on my 94 c1500. however, it doesn't give the obnoxiously loud roar that some others do. but, i was after flow, and a nice mellow rumble. i still tend to set off car alarms, but if i drive down your street at night, you can probably keeps snoozing. the po of my k5 put a glasspack muffler on there, and it's pretty dang loud.

and yes, for true duals, definitely run a crossover pipe of some sort. the improved scavenging and balanced flow make a big difference. X is best for flow, but H might fit around the front drivetrain better. in my personal experience, the earlier in the stream (closer to the headers/manifolds) you put the crossover, the better.

Straight pipes and big tips All the way
Most like to stay legal though. I thought the same way you did till I got hit with 3 noise ordance tickets in a 2 day time span.I had Dual 3.5" all the way back with a X-Pipe and Dual 4" tips. You started it up and it sounded like a drag car.

another good experience with those flowmaster knock offs, i got mine from Jegs for like 30 a piece i think it was. Sound good, seem to flow fairly well also (atleast a lot better than my old rusted stock ones :) )

Well if you want loud definatly go with purple hornies. Just get the ones that bolt right up to the collectors. No need for a Xor h pipe that way and its cheap. Yull be deaf in no time.

I am about to do up my exhaust and I am one of the idoits that like it way to loud. Those purple hornies look good cause there cheap loud glasspacks that are simple and bolt strait up to your headers flange, but do they have enough backpressure to keep form burning up my valves. Dont care about how loud I get it just dont want my engine screwed up over it.

iv got no mufflers on 97 k1500 just ran pipes out the back i tnink it sounds good and its not to loud ,i still have the cats on it

that's great.... try to think about the rest of the people that have to listen to that bull**** that you're thinking about passing off as exhaust. something that obnoxiously loud you cant just "not listen" to it. have a little consideration for other people. also, loud doesnt equal performance. :screwy:

its realy not that loud honestly its not any louder than when i had flowmasters or glasspacks and i never get it on either

i knwo that loud DONt equal performace. except i love the sound of mild motors with headers and a good exhaust. im just weighin my options

thanks guys
