i have a 75 jimmy it has a th350/np 203 the transfercase wont go into hi loc or low loc and when i bought it it didnt have a front drive line so now it wont go anywhere till i get a drive line but i cant find the right kind with u joint type ends at both ends and around 29 inches if i swap to a 205 will it fit the same everything bolt up with mounts /drivelines and what not thanks

i did a 72 K5 NP205 swap to a 78 k5 with original np203. Both had the TH350. I used the adapter from the 72. It was bolt in to the th350. 78 was the first year for the strut from tcase to tranny. The strut does not fit. The 72 had a support brace to the fram. I got this part but it falls short of the frame by about 1-2inches. My spedo cable is to long now for the np205. I had to bend the shifter to get it to swing fully. You may have a differnt frame on the k5 so the support brace may work on yours. I got new drive shafts.

Easy swap but takes time. Find a good doner k5 where you can get all the other parts... support brace, adapter, spedo cable, skid plate.

thanks guys when u shift the t-case one linkage moves the other is stuck or doesnt move atleast i dont know what the second does i would guess its for high loc and low loc if it doesnt move does that mean that somethins gumd up inside

the shifter and linkage on a np205 is different then the np203. i could see the np203 linkage getting more junk in it. might as well try to clean it. i don't know much about the np203. i opted to swap in to the np205.

The NP203 in mine has always been very stiff. It was like that since the truck was new. Also since new (1977) it has had a problem where when you shift out of 4X4 it does not want to come back out for awhile. I have no idea what this problem means. Someday I want to take it apart and take a look at it. I have not idea if it needs lube or what. The 4wd gets used so rarely, usually I can do everything in 4 high just fine.

i think i just need a new t-case i finally got it to go but we had to pry from underneath on the linkage and hammer from up top on the shifter to get that bottom shifter linkage to move into low loc but i dont ever wanna shift it out till i got a new case but thanks for all the advice and of course as soon as i get to drive down the road im almost home and it over heats bad radiator go figure

i tried to adjust it both ways and with no luck and still it would only move the upper shift lever the lower was just stuck you wouldn beleive how hard we had to pry it to get it to move
