Ok so here's the story. I started out with a 1979 chevy 2wd straight 6 and I love to ride my dirtbike at Pismo dunes and only live 45 min. away. One day i was riding my bike through the neighbor hood and there it was a 1974 Chevy C10 for parts or sale. I talked the guy into trading me for the 79 because the 74 was very rusty and not driving so hot, so we made the trade All it needed was a little tranny fluid and it was fine but here's what it had a 454 a turbo 400 and a 203 transfer case and I threw on some 33x12.5x15 thornbirds and I loved her like that the tires would rnb so I did a 3" body lift oh and it had 373 gears man that truck was fast and would go all over the dunes and I could pull like crazy. Well one day I was racing a dodge ramcharger and Beat him the first time and the second time we were side by side and just rompin on it and bouncing like crazy and snap my front axle snapped right were the axle tube went into the pumpkin. So from here I went to the junk yard and pulled out an old chevy like 78 c 20 I think it had a 14 bolt ff rear and a th400 tranny and a 205 transfer case a 350 running condition not known so I swaped in the heavier axles and put the np205 and had to use to go with the th400 out of the junker to bolt up to the 205 well low and behold that 400 had no reverse:mad: Luckily a buddy of mine had one that had been sitting for 12 years he was happy to get rid of so now I'm good to go called her big nasty put 38x12.5x16.5's on her now she's looking better and just in time for the mud boggs I wanted to have her looking good so I herculined her whole cab outside:wink1: I love it. then we did a ride to pozo saloon and I took her up a sweet hillclimb and it was then I realized I really needed a roll cage and more seating so I could scare the crap out of more people at once and I wanted room for a stero. Then there it was on craigslist 74 K5 decent body fair price and picked it up. So now here's what I want to do to her
Build tube frame
Convert rear axle to disc brake
shave rear axle
Lock rear end
4 link the rear
Double up the 203&205 plus triple stick
Find a Dana 60 front and arb or ox lock it
fix body rust
put the 454 in
build exo cage
install my captin chair bucket seats
B&M shifter
herculine her
that's all I can think of for now here are some picts

It was in a storage lot in ag for about 2 years and suposidly he got it it was stored in a barn in paso for quite a while.

Ok, I just asked my bother if saw that blazer on Craig’s list because he looking for one for my nephew. Kind a shame to let one get by.;)
Anyway, do you know your back seat have been relocated forward?

The front seats the guy wanted them and this spare fuel cell also along with the reciever hitch and sway bar all I was not using but thought it was odd to buy this and then have this guy tell me he wants all this stuff back but what ever he has still not come to get it.

I didn't know at first that they had been relocated but figured it out after removing the seat and seeing the other holes I think they moved it up to cover the bolts coming through the floor from the spare gas tank.

Removed the front fenders to get the body off the frame

I have no idea why there is a tailgate bracket that loops to the frame but there is just incase some one else does this and wasn't paying attention

That is a torsion bar to help when somebody lifts the heavy blazer tailgate.

I figured that was what it's function was. Here are some picts of what the new frame will be made of 2x4x.250 steel

Laying out my new frame I cut it out first with wood just to not make a mistake on the expensive steel.

The old frame is good I just wanted a lot more beefy frame and thought this would be the best way to do it. I plan on doing a decent amount of crawling and hard wheeling and don't want to worry about the frame twisting and tweeking

I had to build a caster to put the body on to be able to move it around while I build the frame

Now I have started cutting the frame
