I think this is how a build thread is done but correct me if im wrong.

So, here we go, I bought my 85 burban in the summer of 06 for $700.00.
When i got it, it was missing a shock and 2 bolts for the sway bar. It had the 350/350/205 in it. The best part about this burban is the colorado sheriffs reflective tape still on it. It used to be part of the westcliff county sheriff's office. I am the 3rd owner of it and fell in love with 4 wheeling at first mudrun. This pic is when i had 33"s on it and no front springs left :haha:

I decided to lift it last spring cause i had a ex friend who had a lifted 90 blazer. I bought tuff country's 6" lift kit with springs not blocks, upgraded 9000 shocks with duals in the front. I traded my 33"s for some worn out 36" swampers(going to be replaced).

This is what it looks like now with the lift minus the powertrain. I took the 350 out and bought a 454 that will be going in as a 468. Upgraded the th350 tranny to a upgraded 700r4. Im still looking for a corp. 14bolt rear and a D60 front. Im just not willin to spend 1300 for the D60. It has stock axles (garbage) with the addition of 4.88 gears stuffed into the rear. Before i tore eveything out it sounded like the rear was going out again, what i get for junkyard R&P's. When im totally done with it it should be a hell of a ride. Im looking for an internal roll cage and designing a external cage for it when i find a person with a bender that can weld better than me.

Im the guy in the blue shirt looking like i just got lost. That was a fun night in the mud.

Update

Well the motor is almost done, i still need the intake, vacuum pump, distributor, headers and the rest of the bolt on stuff. Next month ill be purchasing my painless wiring harness, which will be installed as soon as i charlie foxtrot it then look at the directions. I have a 14sf that ill be rebuilding if i cant find my corp 14b. I still need to go junkyard hunting for a 3/4-1 ton front axel. Need rims and tires though im undecided on tire size as well as rim size, advice? The list goes on and on and on. pretty much waiting on payday for right now but im sure ill post more later and see if i cant get some pictures up of where i play.

Here's some pic's of where i have played at. This is the place i play in now since they closed pueblo motorsports park to 4x4ing, they only allow atv/dirtbikes now. It doesnt look like much but when it gets nice and muddy it can be fun, though i havent been there lately people have started dumping trash there

used to be a decent place...

i couldnt get to the axel breaker part of the play area im stuck with my 2 wheel dodge for the time till the burb gets up and going again

My DD (dodge was free only reason i have it) :D

Progress delayed...

Well after finishing a 4th of july party i get into my dodge to drive home and as soon as i turn it on it shuts itself off, managed to get it home by coasting and did some research looks to be anything from a egr valve to a screwed motor, the bad news is im supposed to pick my 454 up tuesday and now have no truck to haul it back with... dam dodge apparently this is a bad problem with many dodges...BOO i knew i shoulda stuck with chevy... anyway wiring harness should be here about mid month for the suburban so hopefully i can get start work on that soon.

Update.

Well as of today things are a charlie foxtrot. My DD broke down and im not spending 300 bucks for a code reader so its saving money till i can get it towed to dodge, My 468 thats being built is now up in the air as the guy that told me to buy an intake told me the wrong F%^&ing specs. (We swapped heads and i havent saw the new heads yet only reason i took the guys advice). So now i have no idea when ill be getting the motor and now since the dodge has broke down im looking at another month of saving up to get my painless wiring harness which makes me mad, as ill have to spend the money ive saved to fix the dodge then sell it.

i love fresh paint

Ah yes so i finally get my motor back and holy crap the guy actually put my rear main seal in correctly! i painted it the other day.

Question

Ok so ive been back reading a crapload of old articles tips and tricks and have pretty much decided i should count on blowing my 700r4 up in year or less, so with that in mind where should i start as far as parts go. i know ill need 465, bellhousing, clutch, clutch fork, master cylinder? Is hydro the best? cross member and pedals/linkage. I have a 3/4t 2wd 465 than i can use for parts if needed. I've looked in all the good chevy yards round here and im not finding crap... so its looking like ill have to go to colo springs to see if they have some up there. Is it better to get junkyard stuff or buy new stuff?

Buy someones who has some on here with the way most go through stuff you are bound to find some very cheap

Update - wiring harness

Ah yes so ive been told the parts fairy will be here friday with my painless harness. I finally went thru jegs to get it and managed to save about 250-300 bucks in the process. My plans are to strip the entire interior out and herculine the inside and try to get some bucket seats while im at it. Now that i have an angle grinder ima bout to get me some of that damable tailgate that wont come off:D, more than likely it wont be pretty.

:doah:

Hm now that the parts fairy has shown up i guess i cant be lazy anymore and this looks to be a bundle of fun :doah::haha:

is that painless harness a direct replacement harness or is it a universal?

The one i bought in the pic is a direct replacement "18 circuit GM 2x4/4x4 truck wiring system". Jeg's sell's another harness that is universal but i wanted it vehicle specific. Dafey cmon man you sure you dont wanna get in on this? :D I have a bit of experience with wiring and whatnot but dam man i looked at the instructions that came with it and im thinking its gonna take me at least a week if not more worth of work.
