My 86 K5 build

Well, I have a build thread on pirate4x4 going on too, and I know alot of members on ck5 have memberships there too, but I thought I would start a thread on here also.
I bought this 1986 K5 at the beginning of the year. Specs are as follows:
383 stroker
700r4 tranny
208 tcase
d60 front, 4.56's, open
14bff rear, 4.56's, detriot
4in lift with blocks in the rear
37 in Military MTR's
ORD cross-over steering with 1.5'' tie rod
ORD weld in & bolt in box braces

The best part about it all.....I paid $2000 for it

The very first thing I did to it after purchasing it was shackle flip the rear with ORD's 4in flip brackets.

Then, I decided to pull all the carpet out to see how the floor/deck looked. It actually was in pretty good shape. There were only about 4 rust spots that I ended up cutting out and welding in some new sheet metal (p.s. welding sheet metel blows). I then hurculined it. Sorry for not that many pics on this, I never really thought I would do a build thread, so I didn't bother with too many pics.

I wanted to paint it to do some rust control, but I didn't want to spend to much on it because I knew I was just going to bash it on rocks/trees. So I found some flat black spray paint at walmart. For a sander, sanding pads, primer in a can, and paint in a can, I spent $80! I think it turned out pretty good. At the same time I did some fender trimming.

Then, Christmas came a little early for me. I found these on craigslist! I got 5 38.5x14.5x16.5 TSL SX's on 16.5x10 rock crawler rims that are at least 90% tread. I know they are 16.5's, but the price was right and I plan on beadlocking them in the future when funds permit anyways. Also, since this thing is street legal, I did the redneck balancing trick of airsoft bb's in the tires. They work fantastic. I've had it up to 70mph with no vibs

Then, I bought a DIY4x Abomb Bumper Center and an Engo E10,000 winch. I went with the Engo because I didn't want to spend just as much for a winch as I did on the entire rig. Plus, I saw the FourWheeler winch shootout and was very impressed with how the Engo performed.

Now, on to installing the Abomb. It kinda sucked because it was so freaking heavy (especially with the winch installed) and I was doing it by myself.

As Kert says on his website, some trimming is necessary with this if you don't have at least a 2'' body lift (I have no body lift). Also removed the core support bracket to make things easier. Then threw some paint on it

I had to shave down the bushing on the font springs to get them to fit in the new hangers. Wasn't too bad. I still have 4'' lift springs in the front, but I will be going to 52's in the front hopefully soon. Now that the b52 kit is in there, it should be cake . I also have an NP241 that I bought off craigslist that I installed a JBConversions slip-yoke eliminator kit in it. I will install it once I have the money to order up a rear CV shaft. Also, I will be building some tubes off the abomb, and some rock sliders hopefully next month. Also, I am in the process of building a tube rear bumber with a drop down tire carrier.

So, while I am waiting for my brother to get back in town next month so we can build some tubes off the abomb and some sliders, I wanted to do something to the rig. So I bought some rollbar paint at the parts store and some silver paint at walmart and decided to paint my axles. I will be using this silver for all the tube work I do on this thing. Sorry for the crappy pics, but you get the idea

Sweet rig man, Im really digging the look of it and I really like the Abomb design how it has the B52 integrated into it.
