Got my son this K5 for his 18th birthday.

Blown motor and pretty hacked up.

We freshened up a TPI motor I had in the store room.

How many of these have you seen?

Ive seen a a few from 72, 75 I think and 88. I just had incredible luck for a long time finding virgin blocks. still have most of them too.

Awesome gift man my dad and I wrenched on my k5 when I was 17 and I'm 18 now. I learned everything I know from that truck.

Guess we got everything hooked up right, first attempt.

Now to button it up and make it pretty.
Next up,
Exhaust
Cooling fan mounts
Air cleaner (a real one, not a crappy filter on the end of a plastic tube.)
Putting the ECM inside the cab.

Test Drive!!

BTW, there is a pretty good group of truck guys here in town. I'm graduating in May, so they will need another resident blazer guy :)

He works at the bowling alley, met one of you 4X4 club guys there. I hope it turns into an honest hobby for him.

Tell him to sign up on texasrebelstrucks.com, maybe he can make it to a meet with us or hang out. That and tell him to check out TAMU offroad, although its mostly Jeep guys.

The boy got to drive it up and down the street a couple times last weekend.

We have the under hood electrical about 80% complete. We still need to shorten the ECM harness but will save that portion for when we move to under dash electrical.

I buttoned up the exhaust last night, it sounds quite a bit better that the open manifolds did.

I "tested" the rear axle by digging a nice set of posi ruts in the yard with it.

Working on fabricating the fan mounts and air cleaner this weekend.

Hope to get it insured, tagged, and inspected in a few weeks.
