specs are stock suspension/ axles, 4 bolt main 350, TH400/np208, 34" LTBs on stock wheels, class V hitch, coming soon is rhino line floor boards, still need a rear bumper, a member here offered me one, and a great price, just a little far to drive, i have the M1010 rear shackle mounts for the back that i will install and i need some d-rings for the front... it was fun to wheel something other than a buggy for once...

I'm not familiar with CUCVs too much, so what exactly was the purpose of this modification? What was this hooked to originally?

And hey the finished product looks nice by the way!

The hole in the cab was only on the M1010 ambulances, and duh, went to the ambulance body.

the insurance company tried to buck on me... they said the vin made non insurable, but i showed them some pics and they let it fly...

well i am tuning the bugs out, got all of the wiring fixed, the tranny kick down and fuel sender were different from the van that i got the 12V harness out of... i kept having some drivabilty issues and found out the vacuum advance doesnt work, my new distributor will be here tomorrow... getting it rhinoed on the interior on friday... trying to get the little stuff fixed to make it seem less raggedy, but all in all it is a pretty solid truck...

i AM stoked... this baby is running great and i am gonna give the 06 cummins a rest tommorow and drag my buggy to work w/ the CUCV...

Looks good man.

Impressed with the cab fix. Most people would have just gone and grabbed a whole new cab.

Curious to find out why you got a whole new 12v wiring harness instead of just converting the 24v one?

The VIN is different on the CUCV's because one of the letters denotes a government/military purchased vehicle.
No biggie and any VIN decoder reads it fine...

...except for most insurance agencies have the "cliff notes" version of a VIN decoder. When I insured mine I had to explain it several times to different people at State Farm and also have my truck photographed so they would actually accept that it was just essentially a camo '86 Chevy K30 SRW single cab long bed pickup truck. Since then not a problem.

If you're "lucky" like me your state also has similar issues with their VIN decoding systems in the computer and you get to deal with the slowest, dimmest, and most difficult to deal with staff member your local branch has. I had to page through their "big book o' VIN's" myself and find the thing for the guy. Yep, right there in the book...but not in the State of Michigan's computer system.

i didnt replace everything, just the "large" plug on the firewall... it just eliminated all of the diesel stuff and it is WAY simpler... one 5/16 bolt and unplug the far inside portion and plug in the new one...

i would NEVER consider changing the cab... i mean i have got a total of 6 hrs on the repair... thats going to the junkyard and the bodywork... its not perfect, but the bed covers most of it up... the part that is visible looks good, and then i bought a tool box and, well i wasted all that work cause you cant see any of it now...:doah:

Truck looks good, how well does it tow.
i towed w/ it today for the first time and it handles well, a little short on power, but i am use to towing w/ my 06 cummins... there is just something about tooling around in an old truck, hell everybody loves it, except my wife, she just cant see the logic in using something like that instead of my dodge....

looks great. any more pics? do the 34s cut down on the revs much with the 4.56 gears?
i am probably taking it to river rock this weekend and putt around in it there and i'll get some wheelin pics...i dont mind if something were to happen to it, but i dont want to f*ck it up...

it doesnt rev too bad on the road, it sounds fine at 55 mph and as far as i am concerned thats fast enough... i really like it, just all in all a fun truck to get around in....
