I don't have the time I used to to hunt, so once a year me and Dad take a 5 day, 2 stop hunting trip. We spend 2 days in Liberal, KS shooting pheasants, then drive down to our lease in Texas to deer hunt. Here's some pics from this year. I try to shoot as many critters as possible, that way I don't have to stress about getting back out to put some meat in the freezer.

Looks like you did well.

Thanks. I don't like to brag, but its my big event of the year these days. Couldn't help but start my own thread.

Very cool. How much did the hog weigh?

I don't have a scale, but she weighed more than I do. I figure 225 or so. I left a bigger, stinkin ass boar laying in the brush. My sister has the pic on her camera, I'll post it up when she gets around to sending to me. Our place is ate up with pigs this year.

Damn dood, nice...

Graci-ass.

Your fellow CK5 brother just north of you can take care of many pigs if you so desire...:D. Pig trap, bow, rifle, shotgun, pistol, heck, I'll try to chase one down with a knife if you want me to. All if it would help you out!:wink1: I likey me some pork chops. I have actually thought about giving up deer hunting just to hunt swine.

I've started to look locally for people who need to rid themselves of the porkers.

BTW, Is all of the people in that pic your family! I'm glad you had a good time with your dad, I'm planning a pig hunt down by Mason the first week of January for my dad and I.

Nope, that Kansas hunt is a friend of a friend type deal, I'm lucky as hell to have gotten in on it. My dad's the big guy standing in the back in the purple shirt.

The place I hunt lease is about 400 acres/year round from a guy out in Sweetwater, TX. We can kill all the pigs we want, he hates them. I may try to put together a weekend out there after deer season. Finding the time to make the trip is the kicker these days.

If your just looking for a couple of pigs for the freezer, I've got a cousin about an hour and a half from you that traps about 200 a year. He'll sell them on the hoof cheap as hell, 20-40 bucks a piece iirc.

I've thought long and hard about buying some of those trapped hogs before and letting them out on my land and starrt a herd myself. Then I can just Pig HUnt behind the house. My wife is worried about her parents getting all bent out of shape putting pigs on the land. Personally, I'd love to have some and keep my bowhunting skills honed all year round.

I'll think about it and let you know. As far as the freezer, I might take on or two amaller ones just for the meat. I have to do some arranging and see if I would have the room, I'll let you know.

I've been told there's 2 kind of land in Texas. Land with pigs, and land that is going to have pigs. They'll show up sooner or later.

Also, I was having a talk with the Frog Marshall while he was checking me at a dove hunt one day and we got onto the subject of pigs. This is his take, "after the Armageddon comes, there'll be cockroaches, coyotes, and pigs"

I've always thought that they would eventually show up to but in 10 years I have never seen one or any sign of one. I have had feeders out from time to time thinking somehow they might stumble across it but no luck. It's funny but just 2 miles or so (by way of a crow) my inlaws have them around their house but not allowed to hunt.
