My Blazer is offically on ebay.

It wouldn't let me bid $1500.00. I think it's broke. Hope you get what you want out of it.

When you list it at $4200, you can't bid less.:D
This is not a reserve listing, the starting bid is $4200 so you need to bid at least $4200:pimp:

From what i gathered from reading the terms and conditions is that you only get charged the big fee if its a "successful listing" meaning someone has bid on it. If no one bids on it in the 7 days its considered un successful so they dont charge you the big fee. The reason i started at $4200 is that the reserve price cost extra... So, if i just put in that price as a minimum, 1) I will not get charged the successful listing fee and 2) i wont get charged the reserve price fee.

You don't pay until the listing is successful.

Just sold a few vehicles through that, shoot me a pm with questions.

well if that is the case now I should list some of my cars there.
I spent $50- 70 on listings that never got a single bid, and the only thing they said is if I relist it they will not charge me the second time only.
:dunno:

You probably won't get many - if any - bids with a $4200 starting price. Ebay buyers don't like listings with a high starting price. You will probably be much better off starting it at $100 and listing it with NO reserve.

Why?

Because eBay is an auction site and not a classified site. You're going against the whole mentality of buyers. They want to bid to "get a good deal". But it is also gambling for them, and gambling is very emotional and addictive. it doesn't work like listing a classified ad. You're selling to a different type of person.

If you put on a reserve, people think you want TOO MUCH and won't bid either. But no reserve? That means someone is going to win THIS auction, so they only get ONE chance to get this "deal".

See, it's because you get a bunch of people saying "Wow, $100? What a STEAL!" and so they bid $500 on it. And then so do a bunch of other guys. So they bid up to $1,000 because it's still a good deal. And then towards the end, the last day, when it's still $2k you get these guys who have "invested" all this time on the listing and they want it, and it's still a good deal at $3k. So they up their bids.

In the last few minutes (or even minute!) you can expect the price to jump by at least $1,000. This is because they don't want the other person to win. They don't want to LOSE. It's not about the money so much as the winning.

Whatever happens, it will sell for about what it's worth. With the $100 starting method, there is a good chance it sells for MORE.

I'm sure other eBay sellers can give you feedback, but that is what works wonders for me.

Thanks! I can see the logic there and it does make perfect sense. But not being a gambler myself, I can't stand the thought of it going for less than my bottom line. So with that, I don't know that I really care if it sells. That's why I have it priced where it is. Cause that's what it would take to make me part with it. For anything less, ill just keep it. Truthfully my bottom line on it is $3250 but I might as well start high I think.

Only $3250? If it doesn't sell, try my method.

Have you looked at recent sales on eBay for similar trucks? You can do that by searching for your truck, then there is a link for "recent sales".

Here's a link for 1978-1980:

http://motors.completed.shop.ebay.c...&_myi=1978-1980&_pcats=5346,6001,6000&_qfkw=1

What you will see there is a lot of incomplete listings (in red). You'll see completed ones too (in green).

The funny thing is there is a lifted truck with the same price as yours ... with a reserve ... and it's not sold. But the one that has no reserve sold for $5,155!

Another thing I noticed ... sorry to be nit picking, I'll go away after this, but your pictures are really bad. The first ones are sideways and often to far away ... and you could at least wash it and try to get rid of those rust stains. And what's with all the garbage in the back? And the underside photos that are as dark as night? That scares off buyers because they think you are hiding something.

If I were you, I would clean it out, then get some GOOD pictures. Frame the truck perfectly in the pic so it is right to the edges. Get a photo of every side, the hood, roof, both inside doors, all the seats, all the floors, the headliner, the back, several in the engine compartment, and then several under the body and use a flash so you can see what's up.

Just a few thoughts! :D

Anyway, good luck with the sale.

No honestly, you are right. I think i was just in a rush to get it posted. I think for now im just to scared to post it with no reserve at a low starting price. Its just a gamble i cant swallow. I think as soon as this listing is over(which should be right about the time it quits raining here...) i'll at least get a good photo shoot of it and do a better description. And thank you! I think you are right in all of your thoughts on the matter so i appreciate the input! And no i didnt know about the recent sales thing. I'll check that out too!

You're welcome, I am glad to help. I've owned and sold over 100 cars/trucks so my comments are just based off those sales. I hope it does you right!

I don't know if this applies to cars but I sold some stuff on e bay and the best tip I got was to make sure my auction ended on a weekend night.

I got 50 bucks more for the same item sold a week apart cause my one auction ended on tuesday and the other ended on sunday night

I was browsing eBay and noticed I could not find your listing. I realized that it's because I searched for "K5 Blazer", and you've only got it listed as "Blazer".

If or when you relist it, be sure to put "K5" in the title as it may help get more exposure. ;)

Damn, I wish you were closer or I had the time to do a fly in and drive back right now! My wife wants a basicly stock 73-80 like yours for her Bday. You have a nice truck! I like it very much! Good luck with the sale.

Here is a preview of how todays shoot went. This one was taken from my phone. Took a couple dozen more with a real camera.

There is more than that. I took 52 pics. And three videos...

Way better! Is there a good reason to not pull the rear mudflaps? You can include them with the sale, but i think it would look better in photos w/o them.

My silly videos. I dont know if i should add them on ebay or not? What say you dudes?
