I just bought a 77 blazer its cool. but it shifts hard and needs a tailgate. the guy i bought it from says he has one and i can come pick it up but it has no window. i thought replacing that window might suck so i was thinking i would hit the junk yard and try to find a window tailgate that has the window in it already. what window tailgates are compatible with a 77?? i there has got to me more tailgates that go on there besides just a 77. dose anybody know??

All the 73 plus versions will interchange.

However, the glass isn't really that hard to change in one, especially if you already have a window.

Just remember that although they look similiar, Suburban tailgates will not work on a Blazer.

I dont have a window just a tailgate if i want to drive all the way back down there to get it. he thought he lost it but he called me to let me know he had it after all but no glass. i was reading some posts on here about changing the glass and it sounded frustrating if i can find a tailgate cheep enough ill just do that. will i need to pick up any thing els or just the tailgate with window? i bet just the tailgate.

You should be able to just grab the tailgate and install it on yours. They are fairly easy to change out, it can just be a bit frustrating trying to find one in any of the yards. More and more they just scrap anything as old as our beloved trucks.

If you have any trouble finding one here in the city, you may want to call Westside Auto out in Grantsville. He has at least two Blazers there, and I know that at least one had an intact tailgate with the glass. If you needed any help getting it, I am sure we could make arrangements.

Oh, but if you are grabbing one, grab the latches and their spacers. These can be different on every vehicle, and the spare spacers can make setting your tailgate up a piece of cake.

Remember to take care when disconnecting the torque rod, it will be under a load when the gate is open. And make sure you have someone to help you, these gates are very heavy.

I should say that the latches themselves aren't different, just the spacing. My passenger side tailgate post is bent out a bit, and this means I needed more spacers to get the latch to engage.

Once the inside and outside weather stripping is removed the glass comes out or goes in real easy. IIRC the glass is bolted to the regulator with two bolts.
