My blazer was robbed!

Scott, I'd be up for a trip to pull n save to get you some replacement stuff cheap. If you're up for a trip, holler at me and we'll take some tools down and get you set up. Sorry this happened to you bro.

Thanks everyone...

Steve - I'm guessing somewhere in the $1000 range. Luckily the seats were junkyard gems @ $35 each. They just unbolted them base and all. It sucks because most of that stuff had a lot of time and effort involved, that hurts more than the monetary hit.

John - Thanks for the offer of help. I may be looking for the seats at least. I've wanted PRP seats, but I don't know if I could manage to afford them right now. So I may get some cheap temps.

Paul - The shop insurance will only cover what I use for work which would be the tools. Problem is there's a $500 deductible, and because it's commercial they would depreciate the value of the tools. Looks like our home owners will be the better option. They will cover all the personal items including the tools, handyman jack, etc.

I keep thinking about fixing the truck back up, and then I start asking myself if it will just get stolen again. The last couple of days everytime I see a nice 4x4 i think "I hope they don't get their stuff jacked" Guess it will be a little while before I have the rosey glasses on again.

Even after this I forgot to lock my truck at work tonight...didn't even take the facep[late off the radio :doah: I'm really pushing my luck over here...

Sounds like someone had a shopping list for a project truck as they raided yers?

Last night the blazer got broke into. They stole a lot from the interior:

  • Front seats!
  • All my aftermarket guages
  • Subs
  • Pretty much all the tools I own
  • Tow strap (the one so many of us got for $20)
  • Handyman jack
  • Registration/insurance cards
They didn't steal the stereo, just trashed it trying to get it out of the dash.
And they left my $500 snowboard.

sorry to hear that man, you probably won't catch them but from the looks of it, you have a lot of good people here willing to help. Good luck and I hope everything works out. I know what it's like to be in a rut like this.

sorry to hear that. the best thing for your dad to do is put up cameras aroudn the shop. how lited is it? even if the cameras are fake as long as they look real enough i doubt anyone will try it again. i agree with the tinting of windows. i always do taht cause i hate people being able to look in my vechels. iam a paranoia freek like that though. live out in the boonies with neihbors no were close and i still lock my **** up lol

sometimes people suck. And Good tint helps a lot. Maybe you guys should get a couple big dogs to protect the premise. :)

dood this is the worst, i would look to an inside job some one who worked there when building your shop it would take a few guys to take all that stuff, and they would have had to know about it befor hand, to have come and removed seats and gauges but leave something loose like a snow board.

We actually did put up a fake camera and signs that said the premises was under video survailence(sp?).:wink1: If we had dogs they probably would just poison them.

It couldn't have been anyone building the shop, the truck wasn't here until they were all done and gone. We only have 9 employees, so I know it wasn't one of them.

I thought of something else that tells me these were guys into 4x4s. I had 3 straps in my truck; a brand new ProComp strap, old frayed Superwinch strap, and a cheap strap with hooks. They left the cheap strap with hooks even though it was band new. They moved it, but didn't take it. :angry1:

Thanks again for all the support. That's why I posted this. I knew you guys would make me feel better.

next time you buy a strap, do what my friends do to theirs, buy a magic marker (permanent ink) and mark the strap all the way down the length with either your name or something that is related to being yours and yours only, this way if your stuff gets stolen, and you see someone using it, you can bust them.

That Sucks

hey man sorry to hear about your loss if it helps i have the two front and the bench seat out of my 86 blazer that i replaced. their blue vinal and are in good shape brackets included the passenger side has a small worn spot on the seat but its ok and the metal frame broke but i fixed it. if you want them i dont see any reason not to send them to you for free i am not gonna do anything with them.

Thanks for the offer. I may be interested in the base, specifically passenger seat. I think I'm probably getting a PRP seat for the driver seat. There was a passenger tilt base in the junkyard the last time I was there, so I'll let you know if I need one.

that sucks

what kind of seats did you have in your k5? these seats i have never seen before in a blazer, their a solid back and the passenger side has a flip up lever to get into the back. the new ones i got are out of another 86 and there cloth and fold and recline. so i dont know if they will work for you, you might have to drill new floorboard holes.

I actually had seats out of a '99 Cavilier. I made my own bracket to use the existing mounting points.

The tilt base was still in the junkyard. Now I'm just prowling for a good passenger seat.

Bummer on getting ripped off. Your pretty close to a good yard that I vist from time to time in greeley. Head over to Andersons if you didn't already know about them. They usually have a few blazers/jimmys to get parts from. Good guys and cheap too.

If you can't find the passenger seat tilt brackets, I've got the ones from mine I took out when I installed my Silverado seats. They are yours if you need them, just let me know.

I was just at Anderson's Thurday and found a tilt base. I love that place. That's where I got the seats that I had.

I'll bet those Silverado seats are nice.

ya those seats are great i went from having saggy seats to frim and confortable. i still havent got the passenger seat put in since i have to build a new bracket but hey im taking it step by step to make shure its gonna be great. my dad says im making it out to be a trailer queen but whats wrong with doing light off roading in style? if im gonna off road like at moab i will buy a cheap beater blazer and keep this one as my dd
