I have been putting off finishing my blazer because i dont realy have a good spot to do it. She has been outside in the mud for the last year. I finaly talked my land lady into letting me base rock my driveway so i can put up my 20ft carport. did it all in one day and im really happy with how she turned out. i needed to share, The carport (truck port) is going up tomorrow. heres the before and after

I really need to do that to my driveway. You called it base rock? I used some medium gravel for an RV spot but it was to loose for my liking. I need something a little more compact. I don't want it to spread. That stuff pretty stable?

I'm not sure if it's the same out there, but, around here a nice material for that is asphalt millings, from when they grind down the road to resurface it. Spread them when it's warm and on a good sunny day roll it (if possible) and they will set up almost as good as pavement :D

To the OP , looks good :waytogo: can't wait to see the finished product :D

Thanks guys! (im the op) i used class 2 baserock with 3/4 rock in it so it stays better but the fines make a nice surface when rolled. the blazer will be happy

Happyer than in thick mud! but yea your right i need to lay down some carpet. i think i can finish her on the trailer where she sits. Only have interior, batterys and battery boxes, drivelines and brake lines to go.

Yeah, we just did ours too, its alot better than slopping around in the mud like before!

got the carport up, and it barley fits between the two buildings but thats perfect becuase it will block the wind from knocking it over. here she is in all her glory

Where did you pick up that carport if you dont mind me asking? I havent seen anything that would be tall enough for me to just drive in, let alone on a trailer and room to work on.

Thanks,
Mike

i bought it from some guy on craigslist for $150. it was brand new still in the box and plastics. It measures 10 ft wide by 20ft long and 9'7 tall in the middle. let me go look at the brand.

just checked and it didnt have a brand on it. sorry

But will your back be happy on that? :D

THIS. My backyard area is all base rock and its so focking miserable i damn near refuse to work on my rigs until i can afford to get something solid back there. TBH the base rock is worse than the mud because it stabs you constantly everywhere. The definition of hell undoubtedly.

Nice!!! I would kill for anything but a muddy pasture with horse shi* all over it! You done did great! And when your ready, laying concrete will be a breeze! I would think rock is better then mud. But then again, if you don't like either, one could always get a 4x8 piece of plywood?

yea i can put plywood down. if i owned this place it would have been paved already, but im a renter so this is the best i can do
