My cage. Whats it worth? NOT for sale, but may have to.

Cage work is just like custom paint on a car. A good quality job cost BIIIIG bucks. People think a custom paint job should only cost like $1500 to maybe $3K. NOT! My budy got a good paint job near show quality for $10K. Show level paint job it was not. Over all it looks bad ass! Look for the quality in the details and you find flaws easily.

$2500 to $3500 for a cage is pricy as hell, but not really if you have ever built a cage. Once you have you know the work it takes. Hence the reason I did it myself. In tubing and tools it took to bend and notch, I have less then thet into it by a fair amount. But I can tell you in hours to build done as a 99% one man job by me, myself and I, with a little help from my boy to get the bends to repeat as close to perfection as humanly possible, I have WAY WAY more then that into it in labor alone. This was my second cage ever built, and I didn't plan it out at all. It was built each tube as it went together. It just ended up like this lol!

Just went through your cage build.....................HOLY MOLY. That gave me a better erection than viagra.

Wish I had the cash. I'd pay top dollar for that kind of workmanship. That cage is virtually bullet proof and then some.

Excellent job, sir.

Gonna go check it out some more. Sorry, but that is just bad ass!

Lol! Thanks bud. If you were closer, I'd let you touch it lol! :D. Would have to keep your pants on though :haha:It has it's flaws too. Some things I would do different. Anything I'm not happy with can be fixed or changed. I will if I can. You have impeccably good taste I will have you know lol.

I quoted a guy with a blazer $2100 for a 6 point cage tied to the frame. 3 2" DOM hoops and 1.75" for the rest. Seat, seat belt mounts and tubes ran through the fire wall to the core support.

He bought a bolt in kit from a vendor on here. Whole thing shook going down the road.:doah: Then he paid me $1800 to make it right. :haha:

Just look at the fab work going into Greg's 72'. Thats a $300K truck in labor alone I'd bet lol. And ALL 100% of it freakin BAD ASS.

I hope my wife never sees this thread......

...but thanks.

I am truly humbled by comments like this.

It would be awesome to build a rig of any kind WITH you Greg. We are both cut from the same cloth with this kind of stuff. I see it in your work for damn sure. Respect your level of quality and desing and engineering. Only reason my K5 is not farther along is of course the house purchase and getting cancer right after. Thats why I love seeing the progress you make because I can't.....yet. Another thing on my bucket list is to hapefully meet you in person and hopefully see your rig too.

Two words for you my friend:

"Rob's Knobs". :waytogo:

Do you remember our old brainstorming sessions talking about cool 1st Gen parts that could be machined...?? Well I haven't forgotten, and I have a personal goal to get those "rdn2blazer creations" onto my truck before its big Moab 2018 Anniversary reveal.....

I know you've got plenty on your plate these days, but fortunately there is still plenty of time for you to get settled-in and feeling healthier before I start bugging you for the parts we talked about! :deal:

Some of you guys know the work I put into my cage. It's 100% USA DOM tube. 2" throughout for the main cage and 1 3/4 for seat mounts. It's not 100% complete to the final I want (To me) but wouldn't take much to get it completed. What would it be worth IF I have to sell it. There is 300 feet in this cage with just the 2" DOM. It should just pull out of my tube since it's a full vert. Countless fabrication hours and designing went into this cage. And I tried to build it to SCORE rules for head clearence and seat belt mounting heights.

I hope you don't need to sell but if you do I think we can work out a deal.
I had a design in mind for my 74 but yours would work too and it's already built.

I sure hope I don't have to either. But if I do I will certainly let you know.
