Well guys I snapped a few shots of my CUC before it was picked up. Im starting to get excited now. It should have the 454 & 4l80 in by next week.

CUC1.jpg

I pulled the front end off to replace the right fender and both inners. Pluss itll give em more room to work.

CUC3.jpg

The PO cut the fender to get rid of the rust I guess..

CUC4.jpg

The RS isnt too bad and will get fixed when I get the other side welded in.

CUC6.jpg

Ive got a new dash for it and it need some duct work so, I pulled it apart to give him some room to wire up the puter and guages.

CUC5.jpg

The back is loaded with the complete wiring harness from a 88 K5 I picked up along with all the fuel lines, trans lines and just about everything else I thought I might need from the 88

It is a CUCV It still has the blackout drive lights in the rear bumper. also the frame bracket for the passenger seat is the same as mine.

It was a CUC many moons ago. Its got the DATA plate to prove it. Why dont you think it is?

It has AC. It doesn't have any antenna mount brackets. The brake master is different. The relays for the diesel are missing. There is no STE-ICE plug.

Only the military had that fuel line running outside the right frame rail just inside the tire.
That is a military bumper. It's just painted black. Look close and you'll see the blackout on the left side.

Easy to get a military bumper. I'm not saying its not a CUCV, but if it is, someone added AC, welded up and filled all the holes for the antenna mounts, removed the STE/ICE connectors, changed out the master cylinder, removed all the related diesel relays, etc.

I would have to say that it is... who would strip a K5 to a bare tub to paint it olive drab green?

The same person who would add military bumpers?

I don't know. It might be a CUCV, but if it is, it has been heavily "civilianized"...

It has been heavily civilianized at some point, but trust me its a CUC. All the ANT. brackets have been shaved before the outside was painted gray, but you can tell where they were if you look. The reason all the diesel stuff is gone is because it had also been converted to a carbed SBC before I got ahold of it, but alot of the original wiring is still there for now. The AC box has been added, but thats about it. There isnt any vacuum running to it and most of the PODS are gone. I was gonna add AC to it anyway so, they just helped me a bit. If I was guessing Id say someone wrecked a Blazer and picked up a CUC to convert. The town I got the CUC at is about 50 miles from the NG HQ in Jeff City so, you see alot of gas converted M1008'S and 1009'S around here.

i don't see anyone 'hating'...just pointing out what most of us were seeing and trying to get to the root of the confusion. I see a good explanation for why it does not appear like most every other CUCV we've ever seen posted here. The seats are definitely CUCV, and nobody I know would swap those in on purpose.

Not all of the M1009's got radios and had the brackets.

This is unfortunately why you see some bootyfab antenna bracket mounts when they were put on M1009's without them.
