my dang ol heep is leaking coolant from somewhere...

had a jeep 4 banger 1 time come in the shop with rusted out freeze plug on the back of the head.

we wound up pulling the head to fix it as there was just no room and the body was crusty from north east rust .

glad you getting it fixed up for a more reliable ride.
 
After 2 13 hr days I'm off tomorrow and will get that dam clamp off when I'm a little fresher.

That tool is awesome looking, I wonder if they have one at autozone... :haha: who am I kidding, they couldn't even come up with an adjustable wrench last time I asked.

Was so thinking of leaving original hose on there---- the condition is good--- but I know I'll regret it.
 
I feel stupid.

Soooo.......... I went out there, looked at it for a second, then realized if I just cut the old hose off, I had plenty of room. :doah: After I did that, it took like 2 minutes to get my vice grips up in there and yank it off.

Live and learn.



And feel stupid 3 days later over busted up knuckles trying to wiggle in there every which way...... :whistle:
No special tools, in fact---- just my trusty old gerber that I carry everywhere, and some vice grips that I've had forever.


I consider this somewhere between fail and victory.

I still have the original GM hoses on my 76dually they are still in good shape so age doesnt necessarily condemn a hose
Flexibility and integrity of the hose (does it feel firm, but not hard; is it pliable but not soft) play a big part of a hoses reliability
 
You can't see it in the pic but there was a weird worn spot on that hose- not exactly sure what was rubbing but after taking it off I was glad I had done so.
