My dash repair build (56k beware)HaHa

This is such a great idea. I'm going to try this on mine. I can't believe I hadn't thought of it already. The fill, sand, repeat part makes me want to blow my brains out, but hey, I can do this. If you don't mind me asking, what are you going to cover it with? Are you going to paint it with automotive paint, bed liner, or have it covered in cloth, vinyl, or leather? I'm partial to the bed liner covering. I like to play in the river, hunt, and fish out of mine, so bed liner durability makes more sense for me personally.

My old ford project truck had huge cracks in the dash.....I fixed it in place....for about 10 dollars.

I back cut all cracks ( some were 2 inches wide ) with a hacksaw blade to make large v shaped notches and scuffed the entire surface with some 100 grit paper.

then I filled the notches with some of that instant foam from home depot and let it set overnight.

next day took the hacksaw blade and trimmed the foam flat...

at this point I could have skim coated it with bondo or something,,,but I had my wife cutup some old blue jeans and made a covering for the dashpad.....

sprayed the jean material and the dash pad with 3M spray adhesive,,,glued it down and trimmed the edges.....done.

she also cut up some jeans and made door panel covers and used the pockets in the jeans for little junk holders on the door skins..:D
