A buddy of mine told me to check this site out since I just picked up this blazer. So, Hello! I've got this '78 Blazer, big brown and ugly. :D Pretty much stock except for a part-time kit and manual locking hubs. The shift linkage on the 203 is just F'd. It won't work unless the 'lock' lever is taken off and the adjustment is all out of whack. So I just ordered a twin stick setup for it to take out the junky linkage.

There seem to be a few problems, some of which I've figured out so far. The heater levers were all messed up and hooked to the wrong doors, so when I flipped it to cold it would open the defroster but that's no big deal.

It came with a cruise control setup on it, is that factory? Does anyone have info on it? I don't see any switches for it but the column has been replaced with one from a later rig. (I've got high beam switch on the floor and column, and wiper on the dash and the column, neither of the column switch work though.) The speedo doesn't work, I haven't time to pull the cluster but I assumed it had something to do with the nonfunctional cruise. I also ordered a new cluster with tach so I was going to dive in when I swapped that out.

Also, the brakes are less than desirable. It almost feels like the booster runs out of vacuum halfway through pedal pressure when I come to a stoplight or something and the pedal gets really stiff. The booster looks like it's been replaced though. There is what I assume is a check valve in line of the vacuum hose though. Can I take that off? Maybe I'm just used to the brakes on my trans am.

It's got a 350(PO said it was a 400 but I checked casting numbers)/th350/203 and looks like a d44 and 12b. The th350 has also just taken a dump it seems like, it's leaking fluid from someplace around where the t-case and trans bolt together. Modulator? (I'm used to sticks). I kept an eye on fluid but it won't do anything but crawl in d, L1, and L2 no matter what kind of revs I give it but reverse is normal. And before it did that, the truck when put in park on anything but level ground wouldn't stay. It would just lurch, click, lurch, click, until it hit something. Ideas?

Anyways, on to pictures! I had wanted to just do a 4" shackle flip and just get some 35's on there but it looks like I'll be messing with the trans first!

Don't worry, I yanked that triangle of death off and put an actual filter on there.

That's the checkvalve and newish booster.

The cruise unit, stock?

Sorry about the pictures, they're all from my cell phone.

Welcome to CK5 :waytogo:

Your friend was right, this is the place for Blazers. If you havent had a chance to look in all the forums theres TONS of information available and lots of good people to help. Sounds like you already have a few projects to work on. Looks pretty clean for a 78. :D

Wow man, that blazer is in nice condition.

I love the chevy brown. My first chev was brown, but the paint didn't look as nice as that though!

Thanks! It looks good and has little to no rust on it. A little bit here or there but nothing a little bit of sanding/prime/paint can't fix. Even better was the price on this thing, $400.

Yeah, I went ahead and paid the $25. I figured with the info I've gotten over the past few days for free I should pay a bit to get all the info it looks like this place has.

welcome aboard! damn nice truck! cant really tell in your pics of the criuse and booster. but that sure is a good starting point. im sure you can find a good 350 trans case combo locally for pretty cheap.

try bowtieoverdrives.com or something similar. they have what you need to put one in if im not mistaken. they sell a little kit that does something and you sound like you could do it. i have their lockup kit and it was a breeze really.
