So I stumbled onto an old energy co. Service truck about 4 years ago or so. 91 v10 blazer. 350 tbi. 700r4 np241 10 bolts. Stock except aluminum rims and some 31 at's. About a quarter million miles on the ticker but other than a faulty oil sender and some normal rust not bad at $1500. Was only used as a backup truck when needed. After awhile the starter went out. Fuel pump died. Was stolen and busted steering column. It just sat until last month. Got her back on the road (until last week when i trashed the motor) I'll see about getting my membership so i can post pics and show my current mods and future plans when I get home from work.

Well I had a 91 2wd burb $450 i was going to use for a motor swap until I rebuilt mine. But I didn't show up with the $ first so that's out of the window. I wasn't planning on a motor rebuild until next winter at the earliest so I think I will stick to the plan of doing some creature comforts ,seats, heater, first. might wait on the heater since it could be spring before I get a motor put back in. Atleast Im not rushing to do things so i can drive it the next day. Next I will start the prep for bedliner and put a stereo back in since someone thought they wanted it more than I did. Suspension will come next. Thinking b52 up front shackle flip out back. Looking for under six inch gain. I currently have some 33 dunlop muds but plan on a 35 for the street and mild use/towing and no bigger than a 37 for real offroad. (sawzall will be utilized to keep me low and clearing rubber) the bigger shoes won't come until I swap axles. 8 lug 10 bolt front. The rear I still am not sure. I have been tossing around the idea of should i dare say it. Ford 9in. (I will explain if you would like). Or ff14bolt. Even though they are dirt cheap, easy to swap, etc unless I shave the housing to nothing I don't see a rock anchor out back. Somewhere in here there will be a engine swap and or rebuild.. time to get back to work. I'm sure I missed a lot but a phone isn't the best device to write a novel.

Found an 88 tbi complete minus pan, rocker covers, throttle body. I plan on picking up Saturday. Read somewhere that the 91 used a different harness but the price is right. So time will tell... Tonight I ripped off the rear bumper for some measurements to start a plain Jane version. Probably some c channel I have lying around and taking the add on floor mounted:doah: roll bar out so i can sandblast and powder coat it at work in the morning.( better than nothing) also the spare tire carrier. The biggest offroad event in the state is only 2 months away so maybe I can limp the bowtie around rather than the jeep or sandrail.

I did pick up an 88 tbi 5.7 Saturday for $200. Started cleaning it up. Today is payday so maybe I can pick up gaskets etc so its ready to swap when the weather permits me to yank the trashed motor to rebuild. Due to work and holidays I haven't done much else. Don't worry Pix will be up soon. (I know this thread is useless without pics)

I am making slow progress. Should have the engine put back together before next weekend. Saturday I am going to yank the interior for preparation of the roll on liner. And a new topper weather stripping. Sunday is looking cold so that should be a good day to post pics. ( have to take the laptop to a WiFi hotspot) that's why you don't see pics yet. Every post has been from my phone and I don't trust entering paypal info (phone company probably has a key logger on here . Also I was unaware of the tailgate hook things so that put a delay on my plain Jane bumper. So a new frame bracket is floating around in my head. It has to be strong enough for a hitch mounted 10k winch.

Well I picked up my gasket's today to put this engine together. Also grabbed some semi gloss black engine enamel for the block and heads and some Chevy red/orange for the oil pan, valve covers, intake manifold, Saturday i have to work so nothing will happen unfortunately. (side job cash for some headers perhaps) Sunday I'm going to take the cj7 for a ride as I'm feeling cooped up. Try and get some pics up Sunday morning before we head out. Also going to look at the pick and pull for some captains chairs before work. Maybe i will still gut the interior for the bedliner prep. Just over a month and a half before this thing will be flinging mud and breaking 10 bolts at the mudbogs/sandrags then it will be :hack: and lift time. Still not sure which way I'm going to go on a rear axle.....:dunno:

Strong, cheap, etc. Where I play diff clearance is a must and a ff rock anchor doesn't have that or it would be a no brainer.

There's always a shave kit....otherwise the options are not that much. 12 bolt with chromoly axles?

I have thought about a 12 bolt. Most likely I will swap a ff14 bolt and maybe shave it. I know its a huge $ but I am considering a currie:whistle: 9.

Well I ended up working all weekend and overtime at my normal job so i haven't done shat. Didn't see any seats at the pick and pull. I did find a set of headers on cl. And a furd 9 with Detroit. For a bill fifty. Downfall is 5.29 gears and 28 splines and wms is few inches to short. The good news is a buddy is coming over to help this weekend so maybe I can get the ball rolling again. A customer brought in some cool custom beadlocks for his Rockwell rims to be powder coated. Maybe i will get my junk powder coated if i can find the time.

temporarily disrailed

Well I managed to get a lot done since my last post. But..... I was also involved in a bad wreck on my way to work. I have trouble gettin out of bed and I'm only 26. Doubt much will happen this weekend then next weekend I'm going to Dallas for a few days. Maybe I will be feeling well enough to jump back into things.

Sorry about the wreck, hope you get better soon. What part of Texas are you from? Im from the DFW area but in Waco now for school.

So its been a month since my last post. I am moving around better since the wreck. I feel like a lazy bum since I still haven't done much. I put a new topper weather strip kit on, herculined the interior and some of the exterior, sand blasted the roll bar and spare tire carrier ( opted for paint since I plan on scratching it and touchups are easy with rattle can.) Everything to swap the engine is installed or in a box. Old engine is out just need the wind machine to die down, a friend to help and my back to cooperate. I sourced a few other parts but had to put them on the backburner since i had to buy a new vehicle after the wreck. The insurance did cut me a total loss check (went into the cj7) and were still waiting on a settlement for Dr. Pain & suffering etc. That maybe I can put into the blazer. Long story short. The turtle won the race not the hare.. on a side note last weekend would have been the 39th annual Canadian river mud bogs and sand drags but county officials made that damn near impossible. So it was a huge redneck gathering. Good times, didn't get stuck and winched out a few stuck rigs. Maybe with the help of confidence in a can I might actually do something worth posting in the near future.
