my holley sniper story from the start --- UPDATE : the story END'S NOW !

so its alive and running in the shop these days .

but 1st day fire up the ecm display unit thingy was skipping all over making choices without touching the screen . we cleaned the screen with the provided wipey and no change . even using the stylus pen they provide it did this problem .

last 2 days 100% no problems .

now today again its changing options of display all over and flashing button options as if you were frantically pushing them but getting nothing . and if you choose any thing it goes back to the last screen you were on .

i signed up yesterday am on holley forum . but still my screen name has no posting privileges and i even sent a pm to the mods to please activate my screen name .

I would call Holley tech. Sounds to me like the display has a problem that is a physical issue, not something you can change with programming.

I think the 2 times I've called I had to wait about 10 minutes. I just put the phone on speaker and set and down and do other things until I hear them pick up. Honestly, I hate talking on the phone, just ask @Bent77 , but my phone experiences with Holley have been good.

Yeah, the forum pretty much just has a moderator, Danny Cabral. He does a pretty good job, but he doesn't have direct Sniper experience. As @Bent77 mentioned, I've noticed Holley people replying to FB posts frequently.

and that danny guy seems a bit ruff . his first post to me was please dont type your info like your texting and use spell check .

so i posted a reply right back at him firm but nice . told him please point out my problems so i KNOW what to correct .

Yea, he’s a little too harsh I’m my opinion. He seems to think you’re 16 years old and typing on a phone rather than a few years older and maybe just not as experienced at typing on a computer. And it sounds like he edits the posts for grammar? That’s a bit weird. I do have trouble following you’re posts sometimes, but I have to read a lot of email from people who don’t speak English so I’m used to kind of translating on the fly.

update and story from my dealings with holley forum and holley on the phone .

i today i wanted to turn the truck around in the bay as working in/out of half open doors sucks with the lift inplace . anyway i have always heads this real high pitched electrical hum when i hook the trucks battery up . i remove the ground / neg only from the batt untill i trust this truck . i have the side post adaptor studs that are brass and give you a poper point . so i hook up the trucks neg / ground and i hear this real faint high pitched hum ( i hear lots of noises and sounds most people filter out ) and then as soon as i install the snipers direct ground / neg wire to the stud adapter the sound goes away . . . weird stuff man . . .

i did forget 1 day and left the batt on with no problems and still started so its not draining the batt that i can tell .

so i have driven this truck today finaly and for the most part its o.k. i think TRUCK wise but the sniper i dont know .

she did fine all day 15-20 miles in town and city driving with 6-8 stops and starts and even almost 1hr off eating lunch with a friend .

tonight i go to take it on a little 5-10 mile trip and half way threw she starts here thing again with the screen flashing buttons and changing pages . all this just before i try to data log the ride cause the guys over on holley forum love data log info . well i got it to log i think but wasnt sure if it was saved . . . i did how ever find a interesting fact truck off key on fuel pump deactivated to not flood it the unit was still having its fits or haywire flashing and buttons flashing . . . . so this tells me it should NOT be emi related from dirty ignition since it wasnt running .

also watching my autometer vac gauge and the sniper display thats only in metric i notice the less vac i have on MY gauge the higher the value on the sniper display ? ? ?

oh ya and i have the gosh dam coolant sensor problem . . . 195* t-stat and shows 170-maybe 180* if i recall its a 12-15 degree off problem with them . . .
