My K30 For "JPZ2NV" Build

Didn't mean for it to sound like I got all that done in one day. Just got the bed done yesterday and all the other stuff, since I posted my last progress. Hope to start doing some painting next week. Want to get some paint on the bed before it gets surface rust. Flat black everything.:D

Got the winch recessed back into the grill, have to wire it up yet. Got the rear shock mounts on, and the end of the frame lopped off. Put a 1/2" steel plate in for the the rear crossmember with a shackle mount welded on also.:D

A little flex action off the side of my trailer... Found out I need longer shocks. 12.5" travel aint enough!

Finished painting it this week, still have to mount the fuel cell in the bed, mount the winch, batter and new cables, along with other never ending it seems tasks.:D Watcha think so far??

Hopefully it will be done for the most part within the next month. With hunting season starting and work not much time right now it seems. I painted some of the parts underneath the truck an olive drab color. Does it need something on the body to break up the black some? Thought of doing something on the door in olive drab to break it up some. Any ideas?? Or just leave it the way it is?

the chrome door handles, the drip rail mouldings, mirrors, and maybe something on the door would break up the black nice. i would have left the tool box polished if it was me to break up the black even more. i like the bed btw too, where did you get the tube and sheet steel from?

i KINDA LIKED THE light blue you had before...But now it looks great!! That bed is something else. :)

The steel just came from a local machine shop here in town. 14 ga diamond plate and 2"x2" square tubing. Not going to run any side mirrors, just end up getting torn off. Though of making some sort of stencil with a tsl tread going down the side with the olive drab color.

You had better do a little more work to that rear crossmember or it will fold in half the first time it is used to snatch your truck out of a mud hole. Just welding on a plate top and bottom to form a C channel (similar to the truck frame) would do it very well.

I see what you are saying as far as strengthing it, which I may do at some time. But I can't see a 5" x 1/2" steel plate folding very easily. With cool weather coming on I will just keep the full doors on want to get a set of tube doors at some point.

But I can't see a 5" x 1/2" steel plate folding very easily.

Simple laws of phyisics say it will bend with enough force applied. You have the plate turned with the weakest section getting all the load.

Get your truck stuck in mud and yank on it with another 6500lbs+++ truck... You will be able to generate well over 20,000 lbs of force. If your really stuck it would not be hard to have close to 50,000 lbs of force. What you use for a strap, chain, etc will determine if it bends your plate or breaks the strap first. More than likely the worst conditions will be a combination of both.

Got the winch mounted (Warn M12000), optima yellow top mounted in the toolbox, battery cables, winch power cables made from 1/0 welding cable, grill painted and installed. Getting closer!:D
