My K5 doesn't fit in my garage!

Re: My K5 doesn\'t fit in my garage!

No- no you guys are all wrong with the lift kit -

Go rent a jackhammer, bobcat, and dumptruck and take them to the garage floor/driveway

You need to slam the garage floor - get some airbags or some hydros - man that would be sweet!

Mine doesnt fit either. I do all the work on it out in the elements on the paved driveway... Could be worse I guess... some folks have gravel drives....

Re: My K5 doesn\'t fit in my garage!

To get my Suburban in and out of the garage after the lift, we took some stock 16.5" wheels and cut them down to fit inside a length of 16" cast-iron pipe. It looks pretty silly on the "roller-skate wheels" but it's functional.

Re: My K5 doesn\'t fit in my garage!

I've only got 31's and no lift, so my garage opening is really small. Now that I think about it, my dads old minivan didn't fit either. After looking at the tires, lowering the pressure won't drop it much. Maybe I could convince my college to let me use their shop.

hmm, looking beyond those rims (and being a Sub owner myself...) i detect a TON of other goodies on that rascal!
Rear disc..... Family Cage.... Headers from he!! (behind what i'd suspect to be a fresh engine? and fancy fan setup!)....
Hmm, what's remaining on the battle plan? That suckers gonna be awesome!!!!!!

Re: My K5 doesn\'t fit in my garage!

Get a set of spare cheapo rims and find some used low profile tires like 205 50/s I have a set of 14 inch rims here with the right lug pattern

wont' clear the calipers on the front but will fit on the back. look for a 70 or older chevy in the yard. they had 6 lug rims and some had 14 inch rims.
As for the steel rim idea. I helped load a monster truck once. That's exacly how they did it. they has a set of steel rims with a tire tread glues on for loading and unloading. Just fit inside the semi. Then they rolled the big ones into the front.

Thanks, Woody!

Grim, that's exactly what I'm doing with mine; just haven't gotten the tire tread to glue/fasten on yet. For now, it's just sitting in the garage. When it's time to get it up and down the driveway, I'm sure I'll need the tire tread to keep from slipping and chuncking my driveway.

Re: My K5 doesn\'t fit in my garage!

well at times like this it is important to take a serious look at what is important in life, Then the proper decision can be made to solve this problem. I think that moving to a different house or renovating the existing house to allow your Blazer to fit into the garage would be justified.

Re: My K5 doesn\'t fit in my garage!

I know of a guy who had about the same problem. Only this was with a van. Now he could not lift the garage or remove a wall or anything also. So what he did is dig. If not up then down he'd say. So maybe this could be a solution for you as well. Just dig the entrance down and you could drive in and out when you like.
